Description: Seminar, three hours. Requisite: satisfaction of Entry-Level Writing requirement. Freshmen/sophomores preferred. Examination of immigration and identity in ancient world, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Anatolia, Mesopotamia, etc. Exploration of how identity was constructed in ancient world (and now) when people moved to new places. Examination of effects of immigration on host cultures, how people encountered and depicted foreignness, and if xenophobia existed then as now. Letter grading.
