Fall 2015 - He makes the statement unclearly. I think we can use reading material during the essay when he mentions use quotes from the reading. So when I have the final test, TA saw my reading and he told me to put them back. Then I just realize that we can not use reading. Then I did not look the reading anymore. However, he said they will discuss to figure it out. then gave me a very low grade. I don't think it is my problem. I think his expression is not clearly at all. And he also makes students confused about the art work. Some of my friends told me once they understand, he makes the explanation more confused. And he did not talk about art work in many aspects. I don't like it

Worst class i've taken at UCLA, if you aren't required to take this class because you are an art major...DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. i literally learned about modern art from 1900-1920 for 10 weeks. the lectures were long (3 hrs of hell) and boring as heck. They should call this class 'modern bullshitting'. This is a 3 part year long class but you can take 31A to fulfill the performing and visual arts GE. I'm so bummed that I wasted that GE on this class, there are WAY better options out there. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Winter 2020 - Anu Vikram is the only professor teaching this course at UCLA, and it’s required in our department. But this class is pretentious, and the professor can be unhelpful. Vikram wants to lecture and get out, and doesn’t care to answer your basic questions. If you ask, they will ignore you. It happened twice in my lecture series. Don’t understand what modernity is? Don’t get what the homework assignment is? Ask your TA instead. Professor Anu will make you feel bad for asking.
