Description: Lecture/screenings, three hours. Exploration of relationship between content, social context, and production processes in independently produced films and digital media by and about Asian American filmmakers, from social change documentaries to theatrical features and online talent. P/NP or letter grading.

Fall 2020 - Renee is a great professor and very caring for her students. Due to COVID, class was structured with a lecture on the first class every week where we talk about the required screenings (got released early) and the second class was an interview with an Asian American filmmaker we submit questions for. There are around 3 hours of screening and some readings every week. Grading is based on biweekly blogs, weekly questions, attendance, and a final project/paper. The blogs and final paper were easy, just be careful of grammar and content since the professors could grade a bit hard. Renee and Janet are super lenient and this was such a fun class to take!
