Fall 2018 - Worst class I have ever taken at UCLA. Went every lecture at 8am, went to every discussion, did the homework problems and still got a failing grade. I have never felt so dejected in a class. Prof Hahn really expects you to master the concepts that he went through only once. I'd say you can only do well in his class if you put in 3 times the amount of effort you put into an average class. He also speaks quite condescendingly when you ask him about material from the lecture and replies you with yea I went fast because you should have already known and read this before. Lectures were okay but did not explain some concepts well. The exams were a horrendous time crunch and it was all MCQ so you don't get partial credit for work done if you don't arrive at the correct final answer. You don't have time to think, once you read the question you should have the entire solution in your head. I read the reviews on here and thought that it was an exaggeration but the exams are actually horrible. Overall, unless you have a strong background in stats or are willing to put in extra effort, I would not recommend taking ECON 41 with this professor.

If you have to take econ 41 with her, you really should go down to the Undergraduate Research Center and petition to have your four units count as an independent reseach project, because Professor Kyriazidou obviously didn't get the memo: "We, the Regents of UCLA, really hate to break this to you, but unfortunately you will have to teach undergraduates from time to time. Others have noticed that this responsibility can result in what one professor termed 'work.' We sincerely regret the inconvience this 'work' may cause to your regurarly scheduled life."

Summer 2020 - So many complaints in this class! He has pretty unreasonable demands for the final ever since he found people cheating on the midterm, making everyone take the fall and not just the cheaters. His final can only have a cheat sheet, use Lockdown, and an extra device for Zoom on the side. His lectures are okay but sometimes focus on wayyyyy too many proofs and not actually helping us on example problems for the exams. His exams also consist of concepts he only touched very lightly. Overall it's not an enjoyable class, especially taking it online.

Winter 2021 - Absolutely trash professor for a relatively easy class. 1. Didn't even clarify or provide resources for what would be on the final until three days before, with the excuse that he was "prepping practice problems to make sure they were only on the subjects covered." Spoiler alert: half the problems he ended up posting were still not on the subjects we covered. 2. Made mistakes on variable usage for a question in the final and is refusing to give points back. 3. Countless errors in provided notes, solutions & other resources. (He calculated all of the CLT questions in one section of the notes incorrectly, and some of the answer keys to past midterms that he provided for review also had incorrect solutions. Every class, students would find errors in notation/calculation in his lecture notes--it was honestly so frustrating to follow.) 4. Doesn't reply to emails, saying that there were too many to reply to. 5. Bad at explaining things: he spent 45 minutes describing a basic theorem that boiled down to common sense, and then skims over fundamental stats concepts that it seems like he expects people to already know. Is this guy supposed to be the best Econ professor? Honestly confused; he turned what should have been a relatively straightforward class into an absolute nightmare.
