Fall 2020 - The class was online, so my interactions with the professor were minimal. The way the class worked was he would post multiple 8-10 min lecture videos for each week, and at the end of each video he would say "now go answer question __ on the lesson log!" which directly pertained to the short lecture video. It made the lecture and the homework very interactive, but also meant you had to watch and do the assignment every week. The material was interesting and applicable, and the professor was really nice and helpful in office hours. Everything is graded by TA and discussion was mandatory attendance and participation. There were group assignments that had to be completed as well but they were pretty easy. Your TA matters more for this class but the Professor Matinez-Fernandez was really cool and nice and I would for sure take another class with him in the future. If you take this class, go to his office hours at least once, he is super fun to even just chat with.

Spring 2020 - Professor Tobiason is probably one of my favorite professors at UCLA. Her lectures were very engaging and very fun! The workload is not too much but all of it is very interesting and easy to read! She is very welcoming and I wish we could have taken this course in person! She is such an intelligent and humble person! I would definitely recommend anyone take this class! The material is not difficult as long as you do the (manageable) readings for the weeks! My TA Annie was also awesome! Both very knowledgeable about the topic! Overall GREAT CLASS!!! p.s. do not let the name scare you!
