Fall 2017 - Professor Brown is awesome! She just got her PhD so she's new and very young, which is pretty refreshing in a tough class like EEB 111. Her slides were very easy to understand and she made class engaging. She often ended class early because she went through her slides pretty fast, which would be my only complaint about her if you're a slow notetaker. I would definitely take classes with her again.

I took EEB 111 Vertebrates with him. For some reason this professor was rated a 2.5 on difficulty BEFORE bruinwalk got reformatted (that's a 7.5 now) so everyone signed up to his class expecting a cakewalk. We got so jipped. This class is hella hard. You have to memorize over one hundred species names, common names, traits, and evolutionary trends. And you have to be able to write them from memory. That's right, there's no multiple choice so the tests give zero hints on what to write. If you are good at recognizing a name, great, you won't do so well in this class. If you are good at seeing 100 latin genus species common names and being able to write all of them down onto a blank piece of paper, you'll probably get a A in this class. Otherwise, it's gonna be really tough. If you look at the average grade for this class, it's a C+. WHY WOULD HE MAKE THE AVERAGE SO LOW WHEN THE WEEDER CLASSES ALREADY WEEDED OUT THE C AND BELOW PEOPLE? Think about it: all the people taking this class probably got B-'s or better in the weeder LS classes. You take those top 70% ish and make the average grade a C+. That's like making the average a D in a LS 1 class!!! I wish I could drop this class but it's too late now. I'm just working my ass off now to be above average in an above average class. I want my first pass back.

Fall 2018 - Class consisted of three noncumulative lecture exams and two noncumulative lab practicals. There was quite a bit of extra credit offered. A lot of this class is memorizing the slides, and reading the textbook is very helpful. This class seemed to require the same effort as some lower divs but it was actually very fun. The material is fun and the professor tries her best to keep the class from being boring. Lots of videos during class so thats a plus.

i took LS 1: Halpin is a pretty good teacher for ls. The class isn't easy so you will have to work for your A. She bases her tests off her lecture notes so don't bother reading the textbook. The book has extra information that she won't even test you on. She goes through concepts rather quickly and will make you stay until the last second of class. Unfortunately I was cursed with a horrible TA who graded so much harder than the other TA's. Lab is about 20% of your grade. The good thing about the class is the clicker questions that are easy points to boost your grade. Her tests are hard and do not consist of very many questions. Each multiple choice is worth 5 points so your grade can easily drop. Her tests consists of short answer so you have to make sure you understand her slides and what she has gone over. [Side note: She's a bit awkward and says umm every 2 seconds haha]
