Prof Beiderwell has a deep understanding for the complexity of the English langugage. For the 1st 5 weeks he had us read articles/excerpts to learn different writing styles. Then for the last 5 weeks we worked on our own 15 page essay on ANY TOPIC OF CHOICE (after discussing with him). Our 100W class had students who wrote at a wide range of proficiencies. What is great about Beiderwell is that he is a useful professor for students of all writing calibers. He helps you structure your essay in the most clear and concise manner, and guides you to use succinct verbage. Overall the best writing professor I've had ever. period.

Spring 2017 - Dear Tamar, You were the professor I needed not the one I wanted. Your class was WAY more difficult than it seemed on the outset (and the grade distribution). I spent way more time, especially in the final weeks of this class, working on your papers than I did for other classes. Why in the hell am I recommending you then? Because you taught me a lot: you helped me actually nail down how to create significance in my writing, be willing to make my writing malleable to constructive criticism, and helped me think more analytically. Also your 50's look is dope.

Spring 2018 - Professor De is great at helping her students become better writers. At first, the assignments, (of which there are only a few), might seem challenging. However, if you put forth your best effort and ask for help when needed, there is no reason why you should not succeed in this class. I truly feel that I have developed a better ability to write a complex paper, which is a very good asset to have while writing in college, regardless of the class. What I particularly liked about the research paper assignment is that we were able to pick out our own topic, which made writing the paper much more enjoyable. I also enjoyed listening to all of the research paper presentations, as they were not only entertaining but also very informative. Overall, I would definitely recommend taking this class. You will become a better writer and will feel proud of what you have accomplished.

Spring 2016 - Randy is my favorite professor that I have had so far at UCLA! The lectures were super fun and weren't ever boring to go to. The required reading and work for the class was very reasonable and there wasn't any "busy work" given by the professor. Overall, I think he does as much as he can to help his students write and succeed during their time here. I would take every course with him if I had the chance!

Professor Frankel is a great professor and also a great person. Taking professor Frankel's class is different than many other classes because of the warm atmosphere. It's too bad I won't be able to take another class taught by Frankel due to me not needing any more English classes. He grades fair, very fair. He's organized. He's humorous. He's smooth too. I will continue to stay in touch with professor Frankel after UCLA.
