Spring 2021 - She is such an amazing professor. Very lenient and offers multiple opportunities to pass this course. Utilizes a grading contract in which as long as you complete the assignment it counts towards your grade. Complete the research journal for that easy A (just a weekly reflection). She is very kind, clear, and supportive. I had no previous knowledge about this course; however, it was extremely interesting as we explored different aspects of media and its significance to academia (we even explored Kendrick Lamar and Beyonce ahaha).

Fall 2021 - She was a great professor, always had room for improvement, there were only like 3 major essays and it usually reflected on food topics and the way we perceive the fast food industry or anything related to food. Her grading system is also great, because its mostly work ethic based so you will receive a B if you do the required topic and stay with the outline. However to receive an A you have to do an additional video or send a letter to a food inc corporation, other than that you're stuck with the a B. I do reccomend taking this class though !

Fall 2018 - Dr Popham is a very nice woman but her class is unnecessarily difficult. It's basically a high school class with loads of mindless busy work. I signed up late and hers was the only section open--for good reason. Do yourself a favor and take this class if you have to with anyone else but her.

Fall 2019 - The required readings were very engaging and interesting. Participation matters in this class so be sure to do the readings and be aware of all information. She is a tough grader. Simple reading responses (mainly essays on your opinion) she grades for content. Also, for her essays she grades VERY hard. The class average for our first essay was a "C" and she was proud of that. Personally, I have very high standards so I was a bit upset when she stated that. To do well on essays, I highly recommend to get additional support. Go to the Undergraduate Writing Center or Writing Success Program, book an appointment and be sure to carefully edit your essay before you turn it in. She is very picky about formatting, grammar and just everything. In the beginning of the quarter, she did signs of favoritism which made me feel uncomfortable however as the quarter was ending, I just got over it. Also, she doesn't really respond to emails BUT She is a good professor and passionate because she supports you by having workshops (grammar, MLA format, word choice, passive voice) and mandatory office hours.

Really nice, caring and concerned. Lots of writing at first but work load starts to ease off. Class is relatively easy, it gets boring though. Office hour is extremely helpful, she goes through your paper with you paragraph by paragraph, pointing out what's not working and what's ok. I really recommend her.
