Summer 2019 - Professor Wagner is easily the best English teacher I've ever had. He brought his passion and enthusiasm to class every day. The content of the course was extremely relevant to current events and the struggles of marginalized groups, making the class interesting and the assignments enjoyable. After taking this class, I feel like I have truly evolved as a writer. The course was not difficult but it definitely isn't an easy A. There are multiple readings every night, which might be tedious work if you're a slow reader like me. Some people didn't read at all but I think the readings were integral to my success in the coursework. For the essays, many students received Bs and Cs but if you take his suggestions and learn from them you will do just fine.

I took Professor Watson for Eng Comp 3. She is very caring professor (even sends us advice on how to relax during finals week). Her essay prompts are kinda hard to do, but she is more than willing to help you out if you go to her office hours. There were a lot of short writing assignments, which were tedious to do but they really help you hone your writing skills and help you prepare for your actual essay. There are four essays, which is a lot for only 10 weeks. First is a memoir, then a lit analysis, a summary and comparison of two positions, and finally a policy paper. I recommend taking this class if you have a lot of time on your hand. She is an excellent professor. Attend her office hours!!! and you'll be able to get a good grade on your essays. If you need her textbooks for this course please email me at dynoemite101@aol.com

Spring 2021 - A true ANGEL to have as a professor. He truly cares about us students and wants us to succeed. He is very understanding when it comes to not being able to attend class, having cameras off, late work, etc. Class consists of 3 easy essays(of which he gives us wayyyy more than enough time to finish), 1 small group presentation where you and your group come up with discussion questions based on a reading, and participation. As for participation, he encourages people to speak up and make any small comments, but not in a stubborn way. Every once in a while he put us into breakout rooms to get to know each other through small activities like writing a paragraph or practicing source citing which would be used for participation or extra credit. He is a very generous grader and always gives you feedback on what you’ve done great and what could use some improvement. Overall an AMAZING instructor, he openly talked about himself and always tried to make us laugh, he truly made his lectures feel like a safe space. If I could take him again I would do it in a heartbeat, I 100% recommend him :)

Summer 2017 - Professor West is a great professor. She was very helpful and was a great person to talk to in and out of class. This class is all about rap music -- if you're into that, then you should definitely take this class. The class breakdown consists of participation (25%), the first essay (20%), the second essay (25%), and the third essay (30%).

Being a 4th year engineering major, this class was a welcome break from all of my engineering classes. Westbay is very accomodating and likes to work with you anytime you need an extension. Overall, not a hard class at all. Some of the work is tedious, but the amount of freedom she gives you in writing a paper is really helpful.I would definitely recommend her for an English class.

Fall 2015 - The theme of the class was art history, which I have no interest in, but I still very much enjoyed the class. Professor Wilson is passionate about teaching and cares about his students. Throughout the quarter you write several drafts of a couple of medium length papers and meet with class mates and Wilson in scheduled appointments. Very reasonable work load. Your grade is really based on improvement, and the grading is not harsh. We read a couple of books, one of which was a social commentary on art and the other was a novel. They were ok. The class size is very small, and Professor Wilson encourages group discussion. Class starts with an entry in a response journal usually related to the assigned reading. You turn these in periodically, and if you do them you get full credit. Highly recommend this professor.
