Professor Gabriel was at times hard to understand due to his accent, but I felt that I walked away from his class with some new perspectives and thoughts. Some of the films are boring, but the ones that do manage to keep your attention are interesting and thought provoking. The unique thing about Professor Gabriel's selection is that the movies are all diverse. The reader for the class is thick, and some of the readings are hard to follow. Overall though, the class isn't extremely tough. Sometimes you have to smooth out the edges on your own.

Winter 2017 - Professor Sampson knows his materials well. He is open-minded and likes to invite the class to discussions. Some of the documentaries I watched during the class were really fascinating, and the materials are actually interesting if you're fond of race, gender, sexuality, and other social topics. Not an easy A class, but as long as you do the reading and go to the lectures, you'll be totally fine! Selling all his textbooks at a bundle of $30. Price negotiable; text 4245223141

I took his 122J over the summer and received a B in the class based on only one paper. The class itself is very cool and chill, no homework or anything. I finished my final paper during week 2 of that session. I was on top of my game, and my paper was a great paper. At the end I received an B because he said the bar this year was very high. Therefore, the class is graded on a curve instead of how well the paper is. Of course there will be people who do better than you do, but a paper should be graded on how well it is written and how strong the argument is. This is not chem or math class where there is a curve. I think it is so discouraging when you know that your paper may get a low grade because others raise the bar. Not what expected from the class. FYI, i wrote my 11 pages paper on how freaking Frozen promotes gay agenda.

Winter 2019 - Great great professor. This class was super interesting and Wuest is an amazing lecturer. My TA was the easiest I think out of all of them, so that was nice. I know some people had a TA that was super difficult, which made the class more difficult. This class really depends on your TA, but the lecturers were amazing. I am not a film major and this class was easy, so you don't have to worry about that. As long as you show up to lecture, stay for the films and go to discussion, this class is an easy A. Plus, again, super engaging lectures!
