Description: (Formerly numbered 299C.) Seminar, three hours; laboratory, two hours. Examination of definition and use of qualitative methodology and methods in social-cultural geographic research. Exploration of relationship between methodology and epistemology; review of range of research methods and techniques, including interviewing and focus groups, observation, action research, ethnography, and interpretation of material culture, and consideration of ethical and practical issues of conducting qualitative research. S/U or letter grading.
