Spring 2020 - DISCLAIMER: I took this class when it was offered as an online course. This class was super interesting but it was a lot more work than I expected. We were required to do a weekly discussion post, attend our discussion sections, a weekly quiz on our readings and lectures, and a weekly lab assignment. We also had a final paper due week 9. The first few weeks of this class were very technical as we were learning about climate, the carbon cycle, and other stuff. Later in the course, the material was a lot easier as we discussed population growth, environmental injustice, and other interesting topics. This class does require a lot of independent work but it is not too bad as long as you keep a consistent schedule. Participation is also really important in your discussion sections! Overall, I really enjoyed the class and would probably take it again. Just make sure to stay on top of your work and you will do fine.

Winter 2021 - This guy is one of the better professors I've had at UCLA. His jokes are actually funny and he keeps you interested during lecture. Probably one of the only classes where I watched all of the lectures. If you want an interesting class that makes you more familiar with the world without having to memorize basic and useless information, take this one.

Spring 2019 - Professor Le is a very clear instructor. She made me interested in environmental science after not having a great experience in high school. We also had a weekly lab that was very interactive and hands-on. The exams were multiple choice and were on concepts she discussed. We also had a group project that required a presentation in discussion section and a group paper. She also offered extra credit opportunities which is helpful if you're close to the next grade.

Winter 2021 - Geography 5 is an interesting and fairly easy GE in terms of content and structure. However, I had a very negative experience taking it in Winter Quarter, 2021. Although Professor Robinson was the professor, all prerecorded lectures (made in winter 2020) were done by Professor Cavanaugh. Professor Robinson structured the workload and distribution of material, I believe. The workload was VERY heavy for a GE and the requirements were very unclear and inconsistent. Professor Robinson was not accomodating towards any conditions that may prevent someone from completing their assignments (no late work tolerated- internet issues are not an excuse), which I find is very classist/ableist especially during a pandemic. My TA was accomodating, however. Professor Robinson was very open to questions but replied in a seemingly passive-aggressive and rude tone. Since assignments were, again, inconsistent and unclear, students had very reasonable questions but the Professor's responses were accusatory and chastising. This made me wary of asking any questions necessary for completing the work. This was a general consensus among students.
