Spring 2018 - So when I took it, German 112 was about German feminism. The professor is very passionate about feminism and her German culture. It was really fascinating for me because I didn't have prior knowledge of any of those fields, and I just took this class as an elective upper division. Her class is graded on a midterm and a final, which were very broad prompts, and the class had an appropriate time to finish all the take home exams. She looks for quality not quantity for the written assignments, and she's not the harshest grader. Some of the required material (the readings and films) were a bit bland, but I understand her reasoning for incorporating them into the course. I came in very fresh and new to the material, and even though it was a once-a-week, three-hour seminar, I feel like I have learned so much. You do have to watch movies and read novels on your own time, but all-in-all, a very great class with a wonderful professor!

Wow, it seems like the Holocaust class was great. Unfortunately, German 112 was boring. Only a few texts were good and many students in the class did outside work while Presner was lecturing. He didn't bring anything new and interesting to our discussions and as a literature major, I was very dissapointed. I think that it's funny that someone talked about his looks. Okay, not the best judge of a person's abilities, and in my opinion he would have to look like George Clooney to make his class interesting...Overall, I wasn't impressed and I wouldn't take another class with him.
