Fall 2017 - This class was a scam. The grade distribution is a scam. My TA said during her section that this would be an easy A and that she was the easiest grader. Completely deceiving. I worked my butt off for the final paper and still couldn't get an A on it. Save yourself the stress and take truly easy GE's such as American Indian Studies M10 or Ethnomusicology 50A, where you can put in 0 effort and still get an A.

I would highly recommend German 56! Professor McCumber is very helpful and he actually captures numerous subtle points in the books. He will also tell you the page that you can refer to if you are going to write a paper. Mid-term paper is about a five pages comparison and final paper is a topic that you can choose on your own. He is tolerant also that you can argue as much as you want even if some parts are not 100% accurate
