One of the best professors at UCLA, period. His lectures are very informative, and he keeps you entertained by telling some of his own personal stories from the time period. Attendance is not mandatory, but you do need to attend class and take lecture notes to be successful. Tests are straightforward and simple. He really teaches you alot and cares about the subject, and is one teacher that will make you appreciate your UCLA experience.

Fall 2021 - I would take this class again 100 times over! If you want to take it, make sure you are ready to read as there is a good amount of reading. They are not boring readings though! Everything you read is interesting but I am sure that if you miss some readings it won’t affect how you do in the class. There is a midterm and 2 essays, all of which the professor adequately prepares you for. The lectures are detailed and engaging. I suggest taking as many notes as you can. I have no qualms with this class or professor at all.

(Courses taken: GE CLST 21B) Effectiveness: Better than his lecture counterpart, Professor Porter. However, this could be because the subjects he lectures on tend to be more interesting. Difficulty: Not that difficult. Concern/Availability: Like most GE cluster professors, he makes himself very available outside of class. Overall: Good professor.
