Aron himself is very nice and passionate about what he teaches. His lectures are fairly interesting, and the workload is pretty light. There's an inclass midterm, and a final paper which is 2500-3000 words. Your grade will of course come down to your reader, and if you get a hard-ass reader who's out to prove something by grading strict as hell (which every reader seems to), you'll have a tough time getting above a B+.

I took Gantner's history of California class over the summer. The guy is an awesome lecturer with an expansive vocabulary. Very confident and knowledgeable. His political views are very left wing, and once or twice he digressed into full on rants. This became a little distracting for me as I am quite conservative. But Gantner is very respectful towards students, and never made anyone uncomfortable for disagreeing with him. He is hilarious as well, and a few of his bitter one liners had me dying. As far as assignments, my class was not typical as Gantner was experiencing a family emergency at the time. Our grade ended up being comprised of a single paper, which I put a weekend into and finished with an A. I highly Gantner for anybody who enjoys strong lectures with a lot of humor on the side.

Winter 2021 - Professor Madley is an amazing lecturer and is very insightful in his field. The books and movies that we were required to read and watch were, for the most part, very pleasant to engage with. There were 3 essays, which you could pick 2 to do, which would account for half of your grade. The other half of the grade was a final which was one 5 page paper and ID's. The paper topic was given a week in advance before it was due, which made the final incredibly easy to knock out. I would take the class again, but only would wish that the lectures were not just slides that you had to download.

dr. salman knew so much about phillipine history. i didn't even take notes, i just listened to him talk and i learned so much. the material is dense but i found it very interesting and relevant, even though i am not a history major. if you do the readings (not even that thorough) and pay attention to main points he brings up in class, you will do just fine.
