Summer 2021 - I took it as a GE also as a premajor requirement before my freshman year started. Prof Hunt is the most amazing teacher i have had in my life. Lessons were all pre-recorded and we had 18 lectures in total. Content is definitely very pact give that the course covers everything from 17th-21st century. I go to Prof Hunt’s office hour a lot to ask questions on assigned reading and she would be very happy to have a conversation. I have to say DONT TAKE history class if you have poor writing skills. This class is super intense (especially in summer quarter) and your prof/TA will not be able to help you on your midterm and final, which together weights 75% of the grade. It also largely depends on who you get as your TA but TAs are the one grading your paper, not the professor. In my experience, I did not have a pleasant time with my TA. I did not receive feedback on my essay from week 2 until the end of week 5 (week6 is final week). In general, would not consider this an easy GE but take it if you truely love the course content

Winter 2022 - Professor Nasiali is knowledgeable, engaging, responsive, and friendly. Her lectures were all so well organized (each week was themed around a different object). This class was a super fresh and interesting perspective on European history, which I didn’t know existed (I have taken so many Euro courses that I didn't think I could possibly ever find it interesting). I was prepared to be bored by endless droning about the French Revolution but instead the Prof explained relevant themes that connected Europe with the rest of the world, and the past with the present. The first hand sources were well chosen and even the textbook felt relevant. I took this class as an easy GE (I'm a senior who has finished both of my majors) but I actually really enjoyed it and would rank this class in my top ten UCLA classes ever taken. Can't recommend this prof enough, definitely worth my time.
