Seminar: Classical Korean Fiction

Description: Seminar, three hours. Preparation: reading knowledge of Korean. Formal and thematic study of tales of marvelous, romance, satirical stories, diaries, and p'ansori fiction. Status of fiction in society and culture, fiction as imaginative representation of writer's relationship to real conditions of existence. Latest Western theory of narratology applied in analysis. In Progress grading (credit to be given only on completion of course 240B).
