Fall 2018 - This is for the whole Latin 1, 2, and 3 series. Professor Beckelhymer was amazing. He is super helpful and is engaging when the material allows for it. He is very passionate about the material which can be difficult in a class like this but his emotions rub off on the students as he gets excited about certain topics. I highly recommend taking the Latin series with Professor Beckelhymer.

Fall 2016 - Before this course, I was excited to take Latin but also very nervous, as I'd heard from many people how difficult a language it was. Obviously, they'd never taken it from a professor as amazing as Professor Haynes! Not only is Justin knowledgeable, patient, and approachable, but he's also funny, engaging, and friendly. He makes learning the complexities of Latin a joy, and his enthusiasm for the language is infectious. Justin is adept at explaining difficult concepts and kind in clarifying them as many times as necessary to make sure that everyone in the class understands. The quizzes are the perfect difficulty level, and I felt that both the midterm exam and the final were an accurate reflection of what we'd learned. That being said, if you're looking for an easy way to fulfill your Foreign Language requirement, this is not the class for you. Only take if you're truly interested in learning Latin- it may be difficult, but if you have an interest in the language, it's completely worth it! And you can't get a better professor than Justin.
