Winter 2021 - Professor Forlano made me feel a lot better about my math skills after fall quarter. He explained things pretty clearly and really really aligned with what the textbook was teaching, so anything I wasn't super clear on I could look and find a similar problem in the textbook with a written out explanation. He talks pretty slow, but he has a cool British or Australian accent so it's understandable even at 1.5x speed. His midterms were the first that I felt like would've made sense to give in an in-person setting. They weren't insanely hard like the other exams that professors made for 24 hour midterms, but it still tested the material so it was great. He also provides a lot of practice problems, but we only have to turn in about five specific questions each week. The workload is really light compared to other professors. 10/10 would recommend.

Let me start by saying that his accent is awesome. Unfortunately, that's about the best thing I can say about him. Because of the accent, it took me to realize that he's a sub par lecturer who just copies his notes on the board without ever taking time to explain. If you want to write down everything he puts on the board you will be writing nearly nonstop for the entire fifty minute lecture. Midterms aren't too bad, but the final in 32b wasn't cumulative which was really disappointing since everything difficult in the class is covered in the last three weeks. If you have no other options, my advice is to take him and never attend his lectures, you will get nothing from them.

Fall 2020 - Y'all I'm going to be wildly honest. 1. I am not good at math (was openly the worst in my high school, luv that). 2. I did not attend lecture. 3. I did not attend discussion. Oleg Gleizer is AMAZING. He's so nice, funny, and he's one of those professors where you can tell that he's truly passionate about what he's teaching. If you get the chance, I really recommend attending lecture. He often goes completely off topic, and I know that bothers some students. However: he always remembers that this is a class, and it's unfair to constantly give us random tidbits and test us on different material. So, he often includes the fun little examples from lectures on his tests and quizzes. Having barely ever attended lecture, and having never attended discussion, I was able to get close to 100 on all three exams just by looking at examples in his notes and in the textbook. I highly recommend taking this class with Gleizer, because his tests are so fair. Find the question on the test, look at his notes, look at the textbook, look at similar homework problems and find their solutions. You got this.

Summer 2020 - I was worried when I first read Professor Greene's reviews, but after taking his class, I think Bruinwalk was a little harsh. His teaching is somewhat eclectic and doesn't work for everyone. However, I really enjoyed how much he emphasizes the intuition behind the material. This definitely makes his exams and homework problems sets difficult though, and I would not have been able to survive without help from my TA. During this quarter, probably due to COVID, most of our homework assignments and even one midterm were done on Sapling. As a result, our grades were inflated going into the final exam. The final was considerably more difficult than anything else we had done previously for the class and most people were thrown off. The average was about 60%. All in all, I appreciated Professor Greene's teaching but he makes 32B a lot more intense than other professors and I probably wouldn't take another class with him. He's more well-suited for students who have a talent for math.

Fall 2017 - He is one of the best professors I have ever had at UCLA. His lectures are clear, he tries to make his lectures engaging (which for some topics it is quite challenging), his exams are all fair, and he is extremely helpful at OH. I would take him again for any other class.
