Fall 2017 - TAKE THIS CLASS ESPECIALLY WITH DR. REPLOGLE!!!! Dr. Replogle is an awesome professor! I thoroughly enjoyed this class and took it for my Visual and Performing Arts GE. The way this class is graded is by these parameters (at least for my quarter): 35% Final Paper (10% thesis, 25% content) 25% Final 20% Midterm 20% Discussion (10% Participation, 10% Writing Prompts based off readings and lectures) Near the end of the quarter, the professor also offers an E.C assignment that can boost your overall final grade in the class a total of 2% max depending on how well you do it. In class, progessor Replogle would give an overview of the content and each week we are also responsible for a number of listenings and readings. These readings and listenings are VERY important as they are utilized on both midterm and final! The lectures themselves are also very important as the exams require you to recall IMPORTANT facts about each song (so you can't just B.S your way out of this). It might sound somewhat overwhelming but the class is truely enjoyable. It really doesn't even feel like a class because the readings are easy, the songs are pretty fun to listen to (especially songs after the midterm!), and the professor is obviously very passionate about the History of Rock n' Roll! You grow to have an appreciation of music and see just how much gender, race, sexuality, technology, and a multitude of other factors transform music into what it is today especially in regards to Rock N' Roll. Also, special shout out to Candance for being such an amazing T.A!!!! Definitely try to get her if you can.
