A decent professor who does a good job at getting the point of the material across, through examples and by answering any questions students have. He sometimes did in class quizzes which were really just "are you paying attention?" type quizzes, but they helped reinforce what we were learning. He is very reasonable about due dates of homework and in grading exams - one midterm there wasn't enough time for, the other was really easy, and the final was probably a little long as everyone stayed the entire 3 hours. The only annoying part of the class was that there really wasn't one single book that contained everything we needed. A good course reader would have been useful, though he does post lecture notes online. All in all, Professor Igo is great for upper div physics, so don't be afraid to take him for that.

Fall 2020 - Dr. Kang is special. I highly advise you take physics 124 with him if you get the chance. It’s a low stress environment where you will get the opportunity learn super cool things. The course is easy overall with the way he does things. He is VERY fair for exams, not making them difficult to where the average is a failing grade. I believe the average for our midterm was around a high 80 (88 or something). He does not curve the class, which is no problem with how fair he is overall. The grading is generous and the TA is great. Dr Kang is a very kind person and clearly loves to help you out. He is highly concerned about learning and cares for the students. He is one of a kind and unlike many UCLA physics professors. My favorite professor thus far.
