Prof. Abachi is a nice guy but his teaching method is quite sketchy. The first two weeks of class he came in from 5-15 minutes late and one day he didn't show up and someone had to tell us he cancelled class. But he has been on time from then on. His lectures are ok but he tends to mess up on equations very VERY frequently. And he will also mess up on example problems and sometimes when he tells the history of something he will mess up. One of his mess ups were when he told us that Washington saw that there were two types of charges, positive and negative. But the real person was Franklin, a different guy on a different dollar bill. His exams are ok not the best not the worse but his practice exams range because sometimes it has material we haven't covered that won't be on the test and sometimes it will me missing something. Homework and lab are ok just that he tends to get behind in lab so in lab we are clueless. That's all but he seems to try his best and he tries to be funny when he really isn't.

Winter 2019 - This is a review for Physics 5C which is the the successor of 6B. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH ARISAKA!!!! 1. His accent is hard to understand 2. His lectures are pointless. He spends the entire time either deriving all these random equations using other random equations. P.s. He's in love with Gauss' Law, which he doesn't adequately explain 3. All his lecture slides reuse the same exact information almost every single week. He rushes through everything not explaining conceptually. 4. His exams are a direct copy of his discussion sheets with an extra "hard" problem. 5. He does not let you use a calculator, or cheat sheet with the equations. 6. His lectures do not help. His mastering physics homework does not help. In all honesty, the best thing to do is to get help from the TAs and memorize the discussion sheets. 7. On the plus side, the class was not that bad. But I had a background in physics (IBHL Physics) which kinda helped. But, if you've never taken IBHL, AP Physics B/C, good luck. Oh, and try asking him questions. He'll go off topic and shrug it off.

I personally don't think that Abdalla is the 'best' Physics professor. SHE HAS 'BAILED OUT' ON HER STUDENTS TWICE, NOT JUST ONCE (the person below is actually wrong). She is okay and tries, but she really expects you to be super involved. She did change her mind at the last minute and decide not to teach a class. She did this twice. And yes, it did frustrate many students as they used their first pass thinking they were going to get an easy professor, but got a hard professor instead. So I personally would get another easier prof. THERE ARE EASIER PROFS OUT THERE. Good luck

The man is a miracle. Keeps it simple. Tells you exactly what you need to know. Very approachable outside of class. Speaks ten languages but is very clear in lecture. Tests are straightforward. No alarms and no surprises. Only thing to watch out for is the pants. He is European so he wears tight pants. Not for the faint of heart. But the man's a saint. If you can get him- take him.

Professor Brown is an awesome teacher for those students who don't mind thinking on a test. Granted, it's not plug and chug nor do you get cheat sheets but it's kept on such a simple level and he tells you what will be on the test before hand. The reason not everyone gets an A is because the tests he makes actually assess whether or not you can apply the material to situations that aren't exactly like HW problems. Overall, I think most people will retain what is learned in his class longer than material learned in other courses due to the fundamental but thorough presentation. Definitely recommend him to those students who want to do minimal work (i.e. no busy work) and can think well (recall + algebraic manipulation) on exams. If you don't like that style look for someone else. Oh, he's also a really nice guy and cares about learning. Just don't ask him to do an example with numbers because he doesn't believe plug and chug teaches anything that an understanding of the material can't provide.

I hated 6A and have always found physics pointless and boring. I was not looking forward to 6B. But Bruinsma totally surprised me. His excitement about the material is catching and I now feel that 6B is one of the best science classes I have taken at UCLA. He is 100% concerned with students actually learning this stuff. I definitely reccommend taking 6B with Bruinsma.
I hated 6A and have always found physics pointless and boring. I was not looking forward to 6B. But Bruinsma totally surprised me. I took 1B with Brent in the summer. His lectures were very organized and he explained the concepts very clearly. I liked how he wrote everything on the chalkboard instead of just bringing in slides to show on the projector like so many other science professors. Brent had office hours every single day for 2 hours, although I didn't go to a single one (had another class). There were no midterms but we had weekly quizzes. His exams were very tough and you really had to study a lot for them. Going into the final I thought that I was going to get a C or worse because I had done poorly on the quizzes. The final was difficult, but there were no curveballs. If you do well on the final he is more likely to give you a good grade even if you didn't do so well in the rest of the quarter. Overall the class was very challenging but I came out with a solid foundation in physics. You may think you're doing poorly in the class but his curves are HUGE!!!

Physics is hard...there is no easy way out..i struggled in 6B but coroniti was worth it.. Lectures: he takes his time to explain everything, and encourages people to ask questions. At the begining of the 1/4 you'll feel lost because his lectures are mathmatically conceptual (no #'s) but you will get use to it..so don't worry if you walk out of lecture like "what the F*** was that". Homework: not much is assigned, he is lenient on the due dates. EXAMS: these can be difficult only because they are conceptual, no numbers. however if you focus on your notes and understand them you'll be fine. the problems on the 2nd midterm are exactly the ones you do in class. before the exam he explains what will be on it question by question so there is no suprise. Corontiti: is one of the nicest human beings on earth. he will never make you feel small so don't be intimidated...he knows physics is difficult and understands his student's concerns. he might answer general questoins vaguely so be specific with your questions. hope this helped..good luck

Winter 2018 - My main motivation for writing this review is to address the student who wrote a negative review for Dorfman below. Dr. Dorfman has been the most inspirational professor I've ever had. You can tell he cares about students actually learning the material and your ability to apply concepts to new situations. If you truly love to learn and you love to challenge yourself then please take this class. Quite frankly, Dr. Dorfman is the smartest person I've ever met. Literally, he will answer your most challenging physics question without even thinking almost like a supercomputer. I've come to the conclusion that he knows everything there is to know about physics and I would not be surprised if he earns a nobel prize in the future. He is very organized and I have never seen him come to class late. He provides a lot of resources to help you master the concepts. To be honest, this class is hard. You have to put in the work to get a good grade. If all you care about is an easy A then avoid this class like the student who wrote the negative review below. The ideas I generated in this class and study habits I've developed have served me well in my other classes. Dr. Dorfman is the god of physics.

Professor Gauvreau was NOT bad at all! His tests were really straight forward and he was a super nice professor! He is such a friendly, easygoing guy! He's always smiling in class and he really wants us to learn. Sure, his second midterm was killer because of the easy first midterm, but he was really generous with grades. The reason why he went over so many chapters within a few days was because it was summer school. Six weeks was barely enough time. That's why we had to put in a lot of our study time. I dreaded taking physics but he made it so easy for us. I ended up with an A- in the class when I had received a B- in Physics 6A. I would definitely recommended this professor to everyone!
