God Does Not Play Dice: Why Einstein Hated Quantum Mechanics
Description: Seminar, one hour. Study of fundamental scientific principles of quantum mechanics: wave particle duality, wavefunctions, and uncertainty principle. Investigation of philosophical aspects of theory that made it controversial even among world's best physicists: determinism, entanglement, locality, many worlds, and free will. Emphasis on first principles scientific reasoning, application of basic mathematical concepts, and philosophical interpretation. Non-science, technology, engineering, and mathematics majors encouraged to enroll. Prior experience not required. Long calculations not required. P/NP grading. Facilitated by Bozo Vareskic, with Brian C. Regan as faculty mentor.
