Description: Lecture, three or four hours; discussion, one hour (when scheduled). Designed for juniors/seniors. Examination of interactions of economic and political factors in African development, with special attention to political basis of inappropriate economic policy during early post-independence period and change toward a more appropriate economic strategy in recent times. Spring 2020 - professor farole is one of the best professors ive taken so far. her lectures were well organized (used slides) and she knew had to unpack relevant material w/ supporting details. her lectured were engaging and it was easy for students to participate. it is easy to learn her material, as long as you study. exams were moderately hard. there were weekly reading quizzes but the readings are easy and very interesting. definitely learned a lot
