Summer 2018 - She is a very skillful, funny and helpful professor. I always felt supported by her. Her class was not easy and the rigor was among the highest I experienced at UCLA, but I learned a lot from it. I think this class really influenced me to pay more attention to psychology in my life and enriched my college experience.

Fall 2016 - I switched out of the psych major at the beginning of the quarter, but I couldn't get into anything else and Oppenheimer's lectures seemed interesting so I stayed despite not receiving any real credit for this class. I wish I'd opted for P/NP because I'm a little concerned about the final. Midterm was hard but the class is curved, so we'll see how it ends up. Oppenheimer is a super great, entertaining lecturer, but a really tough grader. However, lab and homework credit are just participation credit, plus they drop the lowest homework score (so you can skip/forget one without consequence), so there's some cushion for the grade despite the hard exams. Friday lab is long but not too hard and can be interesting if you like research design. There's no textbooks and the required reading for Friday lab is really not necessary. Overall, I'd recommend this class as a fun intro psych course, but definitely not an easy A from what I can tell so far. He's a nice guy and very willing to help.

Winter 2020 - Melissa is a great professor, she explains everything clearly and concisely. Aside from posting her lecture slides, she also posts lecture outlines that you can add your notes to. Also, attendance is mandatory since you'll need an iClicker. However, we were allowed to miss three lectures. The content is not that difficult but there are a few assignments every week. This includes quizzes, lab reports (some are submitted on behalf of your entire lab group), and scientific article analyses. They aren't that difficult and they seem to be graded based on completion for the most part. The midterm was fairly easy after making flashcards based on the slides from the midterm review. The exam contained multiple-choice questions and a couple of free responses questions, then you get in a group to answer the exact same multiple-choice questions together to help your grade a little. I did not take the final exam since it became optional due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the final exam is cumulative and follows the same format as the midterm.
