Lectures: They're sort of mandatory since he uses the iclicker for the pop quizzes(there are 6 but the two lowest scores are dropped) and he also makes you answer questions for participation points. However, they're really boring. I swear, I saw people doing readings for other classes, texting, sleeping, and on facebook. Also, he tends to make the material five times more difficult than it actually is. Assignment/quizzes/participation: Quizzes are easy if you study his lecture notes(which he posts online for you to print). The online homework is easy. Participation points are given during lecture. All you have to do is click a random button. It doesn't matter if you got the answer wrong. The midterms are easy if you study the book. The first one was simple, the second one was harder, but the final was decent(just a lot of calculations).

Summer 2018 - I took this class over the summer and found it fairly easy. Professor Preston was a little strict but a decent teacher. We had a couple of homework assignments per week and three exams (including the final). They were largely non-cumulative, which was nice. It didn't feel overwhelming but could be challenging at times. I didn't feel super comfortable asking her for help, she could be intimidating. She offers extra credit through SONA. She doesn't give +- grades, so if you get an A- it's still an A. I would take this class with her again because I feel like it was probably easier than with another professor.

Winter 2020 - Reise is an awesome guy, but his lectures were all over the place and hard to follow/understand. If you zone out for even a minute, it's so hard to get back on track. A lot of the slides are just random screenshots of code with arrows pointing to certain things, but no explanations. The online textbook is eh. The practice quizzes at the end of the chapter and the practice quizzes he sends out are pretty much exactly the same as the five weekly quizzes throughout the quarter, so study those and you'll be fine. If you have any kind of stats background, you should be fine for this class. It's an easy A, I just didn't study enough for two of the quizzes and it hurt my grade.

For all of those that are stuck and its too late to drop-- Hang in there!! I struggled a lot in this class. Don't be fooled because it was pretty difficult. Make sure you do ALL of the homework assignments and most importantly READ the book!! The lectures weren't too helpful for me. Most of the questions are conceptual and little math is actually required. I was worried that I might not pass. I got a C- on the first test, a C- on the second test BUT I studied my a** off for the final (which wasn't too hard because you get the hang of how her tests are like) I got a B+ on the final and ended up with a B in her class. Good luck everyone.

although his voice is quite boring and monotone, his lectures weren't all bad. i went to most lectures but also fell asleep a few times. he posts his powerpoint presentations the night before class so i usually printed them and wrote notes on them during lecture i started reading the book during first week but stopped because it seemed like he just repeats material from the book. i must admit that his multiple choice exams are quite tricky. it isn't too hard but the curve could mess you up. his grading is quite difficult as he uses zscores to determine your grade. the second half of the course is much harder though. i did not read anything and seemed to fall asleep more during his lectures. but just as long as you read his reader before the final you will be fine. the final is worth 50% so it is smart to at least cram anything you know. i had a B- going into the final and came out getting an A in the class. there are 3 quizes (highest two count), 1 midterm, and final. i learned that the harder the exam, the better chance you are going to get a better zscore and grade.

She's absolutely adorable!! I'm so glad I took her for 100A. She's organized and surprisingly made psych 100A somewhat interesting. Tests are actually fair which is rare for stats. She also really cares about her students and tries to remember everyone's names. I learned a lot from her and definitely recommend her to anyone who needs to take 100A. Really, one of the best professors at UCLA. Note: I've never really spoken to her so I'm not one of those students whos opinion is biased. I really mean it.

I definitely do NOT recommend this Professor. He's a nice guy, but he doesn't know how to teach. He has this ability to make easy concepts into complex one. He can take a concept like what a 'mean' is and make you feel like you've never seen or learned how to calculate a mean before. Sounds harsh, but sit in one of his lectures and you'll know what i'm talking about. He knows his stuff, but he's not very good at teaching it. If it wasn't for the TA I probably would have failed this class. The book he uses is terrible too, especially when he DOESN'T follow the book. It gets very confusing when the book uses one notation and Sneed uses another notation to represent the same thing. Don't take this professor unless you dont mind hating Statistics and messing up your GPA.

Professor is a very caring and wonderful professor. His exams are extremely straightforward...as long as you understand the material, you're ok. The homeworks were very easy, just very tedious work. His lectures were kinda boring but every so often you'll learn a thing from his talks. Just read/skim the book and you're fine. As for his grading..yes..it really does suck..i got a 92% B +....it isn't Stigler's fault, it's the psych department fault because of their strict grading policies. I definitely recommend taking Dr. Stigler's class.
