Spring 2016 - Professor Kagan was super good! She loves Russia and is so passionate about Russian history and culture. Going into this class, I didn't really know much about Russia and just took it because I needed a GE. Out of my 4 classes I took, this one was actually my favorite. Professor Kagan and her TA's were all super helpful, super approachable, and overall very intelligent regarding Russian history and culture. I definitely recommend this class!

She was not forthcoming to me personally and whenever I would come up to her she would already assume that I was a cheater trying to take advantage of her. It was not a very good class at all and I do no suggest taking it at all. It was easy, but her choice of TA was disappointing and it was just a disappointing experience.

Spring 2021 - PROS: - Ample opportunities for extra credit (8%!!!!!) - Light workload, no homework or group projects - Grade consists of: 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 essay, and section participation - Not a strict professor --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONS: - Readings can get a little heavy - Lectures can be slow and difficult to stay focused on (in all fairness, it was on Zoom) - Covers a very wide variety of topics related to Russian history and culture, doesn't just focus on one or a few things I'm also selling the textbooks (Moss + Fathers & Sons) at $15 for both!
