Description: Lecture, three hours; laboratory, two hours. Taught in Spanish. Laboratory is online. Introductory Spanish language and culture course that is proficiency-oriented, communicative, and task-based to help develop communicative competence in four skill areas (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), as well as cultural competence. P/NP or letter grading.

Professor Anya Obianuju is a tough but fair teacher. At the same time, she is also genuinely concerned with how her students are doing. Though she expects a lot out of her students she laughs easily and class can actually be quite fun. She's realistic, down to earth and knows what she's doing. You will learn a lot in her class; I highly recommend her.

Spring 2019 - Lourdes was an amazing TA! I found the class almost too short to learn new material and practice enough speaking for Spanish, so if you are taking Spanish 3 without having taken Spanish before/in a while it may be difficult only to meet twice a week. The online assignments are very easy, but alone will not really prepare you the tests which are more difficult.

Winter 2019 - Mariška is simply the greatest person on Earth. She is so caring and helpful to all her students, and she made Spanish fun for someone who isn't too good at learning new languages. Though she challenges you, Mariška is always there to help you along the way and get you through the course. Best Spanish section you could take!
