Seriously love Professor Ankowski. She is a great lecturer and really makes this class interesting. It's an interesting topic to begin with, but you really do learn a lot about children, which I find important to keep in mind as we move forward and start thinking about having a family. Off point. She is actually funny and really well-versed in her field of work, but if you're taking this class, take it with Professor Ankowski!

I absolutely loved Professor Ankowski!! I know there are some people who find her class a little difficult because of her exams, but it is overall such an amazing class. She is super engaging with her lectures and she is so well versed in what she teaches that you can't help but get drawn into the topics. I would say she grades pretty fairly and as long as you pay attention during lectures, the tests are manageable given, plus they are open book/note. Her class consists of the following: four quizzes (the lowest grade is dropped), two extensions assignments, a research reaction paper, a midterm (twenty-five questions), and a cumulative final (fifty questions). She also gives you the opportunity to earn three extra credit points. I am by no means an exemplary student so trust me when I say if you put in a decent amount of effort, you are sure to ace this class.

Good class.
Professor Ankowski's lectures are very easy, so easy this class could be lower div. Everything about this class is great but she makes a lot of mom jokes and repeats the same material verbatim from Think Like a Baby, which is a book she wrote with her husband. Grade breakdown is 2 midterms each worth 100 points and discussion points worth 100 points so over all you'll be graded out of 300 points . Theres an optional final that will replace your lowest exam score. Attendance for discussion is mandatory because participation is part of your grade. There is one paper and a presentation thats very easy. Textbook is very helpful.
Take this class! It's easy and very informing.

Great professor! The exams are very lecture focused so as long as you go to every lecture and take notes you should do really well. She also lectures off of PowerPoint slides so you can go back and review the slides before exams. She's a lively professor with a sense of humor that won't bore you which makes an 8am class a little better. Take this class you won't regret it.

The grade was based on the highest 2 of 3 exams and the performance of a group examination of an experiment. (Don't worry, the group project is not difficult). The textbook was quite dense and difficult to get through, but the lectures are crystal clear and quite enjoyable. Additionally, the book the instructor wrote is quite funny and an easy, informative read. She is always willing to help, you just have to ask. If you study the lectures and keep up with the reading, you will do very well.

You don't necessarily need the book for this class. She has about 3-4 questions about it on the exam, but you can pretty much just download the online version and skim through the chapters. The exam is mostly lectured based. You will not pass if you don't attend the lectures because she goes into depth about the things on her slides.

Just try to write down everything she says and study the Powerpoints. Not too bad!

Class is very doable as long as you skim over the material she went over in class in the textbook and participate in your discussion group. Doing SONA experiments for extra credit is basically necessary if you want to end with an A in this class, it adds 2% to your overall grade.

Lectures are very fun and the professor is helpful. Exams are not as heavily lecture based as I thought, you for sure need to read the textbook carefully! TAs very great. Discussion was also fun. There is one easy group project, and one easy paper to write.
