This review is actually for M71CW which is the spring seminar. Le Goff's seminar was on ethics in health and research. Super engaging class with interesting discussions. Way less work than I expected considering it's 6 units and a writing II class. Every week you submit answers to provided questions on pretty simple and interesting readings (~2 pages single spaced). Only other work is: one 2 page paper you write with a partner, give a presentation/ teach the class about an ethical topic one week, and one 6-8 page final research paper on the topic of your choice. Overall would definitely recommend, I learned a lot of interesting things and got a good grade without drowning in work.

Love this cluster, but man.... Professor Le Goff gives the most boring and pointless lectures... and then the material from her lectures that are on the midterms aren't even things she focused on during her lectures. It will be an obscure question like, when was abortion legal and then it'll give 5 weird answers none of which are straightforward. I really wish she was removed from this cluster, because I really love it except for her.

I really enjoyed Le Goff's clear, organized lectures. They just didn't seem to play as significant of a role in the assessments or the class overall, compared to the other professors.

The professor is very wholesome, kind, and caring about her students. She is extremely smart and knowledgable about bioethics. As long as you read, the quizzes are easy. There is one 6-8 page research paper that is worth thirty percent of your final grade, three quizzes worth thirty percent, participation points, and homework points. Le Goff is an excellent professor!

This professor is an unfair grader! I received all A- (90%) on the 3 quizzes, an A on participation and the group paper, but the final paper dropped me down to a B+. My paper was very well written and deserved an A+, but the TA grades the paper and gave me a B on it. The professor does not even read the final paper, and the TA (Abigail) is such a harsh grader. She removes 5 points here 10 points there, it is so unfair even though my sentences answer the prompt and are concise. I dedicated all my time to this class and still did not receive the A that I deserved. Do not take this class as you will not receive the A you deserve for your hard work!!!

Definitely an enjoyable class with interesting and relevant subject material (bioethics, eugenics, epigenetics, etc.). Workload was not too bad - weekly readings, group project, three quizzes, clicker questions, and final research paper but all very doable. Le Goff is very knowledgeable about the subject material and helpful for editing work!

I really enjoyed the content of this course and the Professor was clear on her grading criteria. Dr. Le Goff was approachable for office hours and for any help we needed on assignments or questions about the course. The subject of ethics can tend to be a subjective matter since there are a lot of grey areas so be sure to really learn your principles thoroughly and stick to them for when you need to engage with the classwork. We had weekly readings which were all interesting, clicker questions in class, 3 quizzes, and a final research paper. This wasn't a difficult course to manage if you take organized notes, participate, and attend lectures consistently.
