Loved this class. Loved this professor. Loved the TA (Dyese <33). Workload was heavier than expected (a play a week & discussion posts) but manageable if you don't leave it all to the last minute. I generally don't like (and am not good at) reading Shakespearean language but it wasn't that bad. This class made me love Shakespeare and think about it ways I never have before. Highly recommend if you have even the slightest bit of interest in the topic!
I took this class online. Lectures weren't live so you could watch them on your own time which was great. There were about 3 lectures for each play and they would last from 20-50 minutes. We ended up reading 6 plays total then had a movie week. Sometimes you will need to read a play a week, but it's doable especially if you break up the workload. The grading was originally: Discussion posts: 20% Participation in section 20% First paper 10% Midterm Exam 15% Final Paper 15% Final Exam 20%. However, this quarter he canceled the final exam so percentages were redistributed in your favor. His lectures were extremely interesting and made me think about Shakespeare's plays in ways I didn't know was possible. He doesn't use slides so during lectures you'll have to pay attention and take notes. Overall I definitely recommend this class if you have even a slight interest in Shakespeare.
This class is definitely one of the most interesting classes I've taken. Professor Little is very funny and a very engaging lecturer with both his ideas and his delivery. The majority of the workload is just reading the plays which you should try and do if you take the class, but don't bother getting the suggested textbook. You can just read the folger online copies which are just as good and free. The two essays you have to write for the class are both very short, however the grading is largely based on your TA, not Professor Little, so be aware of that and ask your TA what they are looking for in a good essay.
Professor Little is far and away one of the greatest people I have ever met. He has so much passion for Shakespeare, and he conveys so much of that to his students. It's clear that he cares about his students, and he really wants them to appreciate Shakespeare.
Class structure is two essays, a midterm, and a final. The essays require a lot of analysis, so if you procrastinate on them (like I did) you're in for a bad time.
Grade is based almost entirely on your TA. I had a great TA for this class (go Josh Hueth!), but with a bad TA this class might be on the more brutal side.
If you have even the slightest appreciation for Shakespeare, or if you just want to go for it, take this class. I cannot recommend it enough. It's the greatest class I've ever taken, and I feel like, at a fundamental level, it just made me a better person. Tests are easy so pulling off an A isn't too bad. Go for it!
Professor Little's lectures genuinely inspired me, moved me, and made me want to be a better person. His theories about Shakespeare are unparalleled by something you could get in any high school English course or on a summary website. I might not ever have another teacher as passionate about anything again.
favorite professor from last quarter, wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being my favorite ever! he's so engaging, and he brings something new to every lecture. if you're even remotely interested, go for it!!! you will get a lot out of this class
Professor Little was very kind in the beginning but showed his true colors later into the quarter. He makes it clear which student(s) he likes--do not bother to participate in his class at this point, he will not call on you.
Once during his office hours, I waited for 30 minutes until he finished a conversation with his colleague. He really did not care.
Prof Little is such an engaging and passionate teacher. Really enjoyed having him as a professor; he makes a boring class about Shakespeare actually entertaining.
******SELLING******
The Complete Works of Shakespeare
I bought it brand new, and there are zero markings/highlighting inside. Good as new.

Professor Little is an awesome professor and his lectures are actually moving. I cannot believe how much I enjoyed Shakespeare with him. The complaints of favoritism may be a little true, there certainly was one kid that he would always look at and call on just for random jokes and whatnot, but what can you do. The student went to his office hours, and Prof Little appreciated it and was friendly with him, I don't think there's that much to it. The one thing I did find annoying is that there will always be a group of Theater majors in a Shakespeare class, and theater majors will be theater majors, but again, what can you do. They did add a unique perspective to the plays though, as they could give insight on stage directions and production for certain characters or scenes that added to the value of the class.
Anyways, Professor Little has a wealth of knowledge and works incredibly hard to share that knowledge with his students. The class is not easy, however it is worth it.
I really appreciated how he made Shakespeare relatable to our own lives, and how this became less of learning for a class and more about life in general. He knows when to be funny and when to be serious. After all, themes in Shakespeare can be serious stuff. I would recommend the course to anyone interested in Shakespeare or just looking for a meaningful course!
