This class is really interesting, really diving into the development of infants. It was a lot more fun than I thought, and it was cute seeing videos of Professor Goff's kids as examples.
There are two midterms and one final, but the lowest of the two midterms is dropped (so if you're satisfied with the first midterm, you don't have to take the second one). Exams were open note, so they were not bad. Definitely don't take the exams completely reliant on your notes- it wastes time and you won't be able to apply concepts properly.
There is 2 points extra credit (NOT percentage, just 2 more points added to your overall points). You have to get 2 credits of SONA studies which aren't bad.
The only homework you have is weekly written assignments that are based on that week's lecture topic. Make sure you look at the rubric to know exactly what you should be writing (to avoid points taken off for a minor thing, like the number of examples you should use)
Her lectures are well organized and each example builds on the other really well. If you're confused at first when she introduces a topic, don't worry. You'll understand once she finishes.
(She does talk very fast so be prepared if you use hand-written notes.)
Because we were online, discussion sections were not mandatory, so our participation points were transferred to our weekly written assignments. I personally did not enjoy going to discussion sections just for my own preferences, but you should definitely go because they're just summarizing the lecture material.
There is a reason why Goff's overall rating is high and it's because she's literally the Miss Honey of professors. Her class is not only easy, but the content you learn is just so useful and fascinating. Sometimes I wish we were graded on a little bit more because one missed assignment can lower your grade, even if you do well on the midterm. However, it's not difficult to do well in this class and I would for sure take it again.
Professor Goff is an actual sweetheart. She was really accommodating with the circumstances of the pandemic (no group work!) and very lenient with grading and students that missed assignment deadlines. In my opinion, her lectures were sometimes dry but it's mainly because I loose motivation to sit through a two hour session easily.
The class is made up of 4 written assignments (based on lectures), a midterm and final. The written assignments were graded pretty easy and I got full points on all of them. I got 32/35 and 43/45 on the exams respectively by just rewatching the lectures on 2x speed and going over sample test questions she provided each time. The test is fairly easy but I would be careful with the wording of some of the questions. That said, she is on Zoom during the test window and will clarify any confusion on the wording of the questions if you need it. There is also 2pts max extra credit opportunity with participation in SONA studies!
Overall, this was a very chill class and I am going to take future classes with Professor Goff :))
Amazing professor, very prompt at responding to emails, she posts great slides but you must take detailed notes and make sure you understand the material on a canceptual level. She asks conceptual type questions on the exams. This course went fast in the summer but doable while taking another course at the same time. She explains material well and helps you to understand. 1 midterm, 1 final, and weekly written assignments, allows 2 points extra credit. EVERY point in this class counts!!
I LOVE Prof. Goff! I took this class during COVID-19 so it was entirely online. I watched all the lectures asynchronously on Zoom due to a conflict, but I still loved this class! The content is interesting and Prof. Goff is an amazing teacher who truly cares about her students. The exams were a bit difficult, but the exam was open note so it was fine. I think I got A's on both of them. She also gives the final during the last class period in Week 10 which is really nice because you get to finish one of your classes early! Other than the exams, we had a mandatory section once a week and weekly written assignments to complete but they were always really easy and straightforward. This class definitely sparked my love for developmental psych and I've taken 3 other dev psych classes since then! Professor Goff is amazing!!
Professor Goff is a great professor who cares about her students and ensures that students have the experience possible. The material is interesting and the content is not too difficult however I do believe that in order to get an A you really do have to study the material in detail. Furthermore, I feel like people need to learn to separate their feelings for a professor from the difficulty of a class as I found the exams to be somewhat challenging.

I loved this class! It was super interesting and Professor Goff is a great professor and cares about you and your learning. I strongly recommend taking this class.
Goff is a wonderful professor and person. She is very friendly and really cares for her students. She gives live lectures and also records them. I always looked forward to attending her lectures and she explains the material very clearly and thoroughly.
Her exams are relatively easy as long as she may attention during class and do the homework (which are just short written reports).
I had a lot of fun learning from this class and I highly recommend taking this upper div at the beginning of your college career since many of the other psych classes build upon the material taught in this class!
Professor Goff is very knowledgeable and engaging. Lectures were organized well. She does talk insanely fast though, of which she is aware, which make it almost impossible to take notes during the live zoom. After week 2, I only watched the recordings just because she goes so fast, I needed to pause pretty often to catch up on my notes. Definitely take notes and record poll questions. The exam questions honestly are tricky and require studying. Written assignments were annoying but overall reasonable and forces you to stay on track. I didn't attend discussion at all after week 2, they were moved to a time I couldn't attend and just not necessary. Did 2/3 extra credits, I was unable to do SONA because there were no more studies left, so do that one early. No readings whatsoever, which was great. Occasionally we had supplemental videos. Lectures were shorter than the 1 hour 15 because we had videos in between and questions at the end. Overall, take this class.
This was the one class where I wish I was able to get to know the professor more because Goff was amazing... but I always only ended watching the lectures after they were recorded. Anyways, Professor Goff was a very engaging and articulate lecturer, and I would take another class with her. The workload isn’t intense but it does get repetitive and annoying to do, however they aren’t hard to score full points on. Her exams, I would definitely say they were tricky cause I did terrible on the midterm but the final was more chill since I actually invested more time to know and apply the material. Developmental psych is interesting and honestly if you put at least 3-5 before each exam and actually know everything from her lecturers, you can get an A.
