Winter 2022 - This is a very doable classes. The key to success is to make sure you show up everyclass, and complete all his study questions before his exams. There are not too many workload, and all exams are open books which means that you can even print his study questions out since many exams questions are taken directly from the practice questions(maybe changing some number or some wording, but same idea). Professor is very clear and as an international student with weak English skills, I am able to follow his lecture without any confusion. Gradings are 25% midterm1, 25% midterm 2 and 50% finals. His office hour is helpful as well. The content is interesting for me, I would absolutely want to take his class again.

Summer 2018 - Mcdevitt is incredibly clear in his material. He really knows his stuff, and his exams are very fair, but can be on the harder side. I can see how it can be time sensitive. The multiple choice is incredibly hard. It might even be harder than the free response, honestly because some multiple choice questions can go down to "g." Not just the simple "a, b, c, d," but it goes down to "g." BUT he's a good lecturer, so he does teach the things that he tests. It's a solid econ class, and you probably deserve the grade you get.

Winter 2016 - One of the best professor in Econ department. His lectures are clear, and exams follow his lectures and study questions. There are no surprise at all. You need to fully understand the material to do well in the exams, but that's not hard, given that he posts lecture notes online. No homework for this class. So it is a very good econ elective to take, not time-consuming at all.

Fall 2018 - Professor McDevitt is definitely a smart guy and knows his material well, but his lectures can be hard to follow if you don't have a good view of the board--his handwriting is messy and he doesn't use slides, so sit up front. He does post notes that are pretty thorough and useful for studying though. The practice tests are good examples of what the exam will be like, so if you understand the concepts covered on the practice exams, you should be fine. Overall I thought this class was decently interesting and I got an A for the first time since Econ 1 (and I got a B when I took Econ 11 with McD, so that's saying something)

Summer 2019 - This class has a lot of graphs and I’m not a graph person so it was a hard class for me but anyone who tells you to not take him doesn’t like Econ. He’s very competent and clear in his explanations and he knows A LOT. His tests are tough but they are very similar to his practice tests so if you can do those, don’t stress too much. Would definitely take another class with him.

Winter 2020 - Easily the most disorganized professor I've ever had. His lectures were hard to follow in class and his handwriting was extremely messy, which made reading off the board confusing. As a result, I didn't bother going to class and would simply read through the typed up notes posted on CCLE. Every single document he sent out, whether it be notes, exams, or anything else, would be filled with typos, including one on the final which put my grade at risk. With that being said, he genuinely does care, and provides many extra office hours before a test to ask questions. Had he organized the class better it would have been great, but it was too chaotic to be enjoyable.
