Quarter: Fall 2021
Grade: A+
Dec. 22, 2021

This will be one of the most organized classes you will take at UCLA. His lectures and slides are extremely clear, and funny, and he makes them interesting by using current-day examples and anecdotes. We had one quiz to do every week but they were pretty easy and it was just based on the slides. We had about 40-50 pages of reading every week but stopped doing them in Week 6 and I was perfectly fine. The readings just work to refresh your memory and provide more examples. The analysis paper was based on a very broad topic - the war with Afghanistan- and we were limited to 5-6 pages which imo is not enough at all; this topic is something you could write a book about. Regardless, the class was the best class I took this quarter and I am so sad to let it go :((

Quarter: Fall 2021

The one thing to watch out is the final paper which is worth like 40% of ur grade, just make sure u do decent on that and you'll be set. The quizzes aren't difficult but you have to make sure you are familiar with that week's lecture.

Quarter: Fall 2021
Grade: A
Dec. 22, 2021

This was my favorite class this quarter, and undoubtedly a great introduction to the political science major as a freshman. Professor Min is all you want in a professor-- organized, kind, funny, caring. The workload was extremely light, just one quiz a week (open note). I was apprehensive at first about skipping the readings but I'm so glad I did, his slides are all you need. Plus, if you're ever feeling iffy about a quiz question, the textbook is free online for reference. The only difficult thing about this class was the paper worth 50% of your grade. Based on past reviews, it seems to always be about a current event that you have to apply class concepts to. This year's was about the Afghanistan conflict, which obviously required a large amount of research and time. My TA didn't give much feedback throughout the process either. I got an A on it though, so just make sure you spend enough time on it and start early (you get a lot of time to do it). I found it very gratifying in the end as I walked away with new knowledge and understanding on such an important topic. Overall, I'd highly recommend this class to anyone.

Quarter: Fall 2021
Grade: A
Dec. 7, 2021

I LOVED this class and recommended it to literally all of my friends (even non-polsci majors). Prof Min is a great lecturer and I was always very engaged. He posts the slides and also posts recordings of his lectures so it's super easy to catch up if you can't make it to class (but I would recommend going). There are weekly open note quizzes that can occasionally be challenging but are totally doable if you have good notes. There was no midterm and the final is a 5-6 pg analysis paper on a current event that Prof Min changes each year. The final paper was due earlier than finals week which I actually liked because it made my finals week a little less chaotic and we got grades back early.

I LOVED this class. Prof. Min is one of the reasons I decided to concentrate in International Relations in my Poli Sci Major. He makes the material super clear to understand and very interesting. I never had to read the textbook because his lectures were super comprehensive.

Professor Min was a fantastic professor. He really knew the material and was not only able to convey it well but in a way that was extremely easy to understand! I had Julian Michel as my TA and he was also great. He was super fun and interesting to talk to and even brought in a guest speaker who was a german diplomat. Overall, a really interesting and good class and super easy too!

(PS don't worry about the textbook, it's free online and is just an auxiliary thing, but his lectures are very thorough and he gives you all the info you need)

I do not exaggerate when I say this man is everything you want in a professor and his class includes everything you want in a class. I could write an essay on all the benefits of this class but I think the ratings speak for themselves. Oh, and I would recommend going to office hours if you want to get to know him better - he encourages it and is very friendly.

I am absolutely obsessed with Min and I would love to take a class with him again if I had the chance. His lectures are the BEST. I could clearly understand everything, even on 2x speed (not like I was retaining any of the info, but if I needed to speed through a lecture before disc, I could). Everything about the class was so cohesive and comprehensive. The weekly quizzes were not hard, as long as you paid attention to the lectures and/or could recall where to find the information on the slides, which he posted on ccle. The essay was an interesting ride... I wouldn't say it was my favorite essay to write, but hey, it was the only really big assignment and there was no final exam. I learned so much valuable information from this class and I loved it; I definitely recommend it as a GE or a poli sci pre req, even if you don't plan on concentrating in world politics. Also, Julian was a great TA and I'd recommend him!!

THANK YOU Professor Min and my TA Julian for an amazing quarter <3!! Professor Min is really nice and he answered my question regarding one of the quiz questions really thoroughly. I also learned so much from the weekly sections with my TA Julian, who reviewed course concepts with us comprehensively. The quizzes and the final paper are doable and your hard work will pay off as long as you put effort into learning course concepts. The readings are not necessarily required, but I personally find it interesting to read and it's a good supplement to the lectures because the examples mentioned in the lectures are more detailed in the textbook.

Professor Min was excellent for PS20. His lectures were incredibly organized, contained relevant material, and were pretty much timed down to the minute. Never kept us late or included unnecessary information. Workload was about as light as you can get for a 5 unit class, just weekly quizzes and a cumulative final analysis paper meant to incorporate ideas learned during class. I enjoyed Professor Min's humor and tying in a lot of current events and issues into lecture, he really simplified the material and made it interesting and digestible for Political Science majors and non-majors alike. Would highly recommend this class to anyone.
