Spring 2020 - This class was really rough as an online class. Having only posted lectures (usually posted at odd times) did not help students feel able to ask questions or approach the professor with concerns. The videos were usually difficult to understand or didn't go into depth on topics, and rarely showed examples that were useful. He kept saying "This is a midterm-level example" on easy problems but the midterms were absolutely unbelievable (first was a lot worse than second). I didn't think his lectures were that bad, but I never understood things the first time and only got them after reviewing notes a bunch and doing the homework with help from Chegg. Proctored exams were rough and need to be improved to run them more smoothly. On the plus side, I think the materia is pretty cool but is not helped by this guy.

Best EE 110L professor there is. His lectures before the lab are very helpful and quizzes are pretty straightforward. Don't let the first quiz throw you off though. It was ridiculously easy, while the second one was much longer and somewhat harder. Just study his lectures before the lab and you'll do fine on the quizzes. And if you have a great TA like Abhijeet, you'll do well on the lab reports too.

Spring 2021 - Overall a very straightforward lab. Depending on your classes progress you'll be doing 4-5 experiments where each will take around 1-3 weeks to complete. For each lab, the professor will go over the required theory and give a short explanation on the general approach for each lab. He gives enough explanation where you'll have little to no problem completing the lab in ~2-6 hours. And his slides and the departments lab manual give enough guidance in case you get lost. He also uses Piazza if you're wondering. You will need to download a software to do the labs, but don't worry about that since the software is easy to install and use. For this lab, you'll have to write up a lab report for each experiment and there will be 3 quizzes. According to his syllabus the reports are 60% and quizzes 40% of your overall grade. The lab reports are very easy to do and only take a few hours to complete. All you do is paste your results, paste a picture of your set up, and answer some discussion questions. The quizzes are pretty straightforward, just make sure you memorize the equations on his slides and you'll be fine. The questions involve little bit of algebra and mainly plug and chug. He gives you 20 minutes to complete the quiz however. If you want a A, make sure you get perfect or near perfect scores (>95%) on all quizzes where almost everyone will do well on the report so your grade will depend on each of your quiz grades. Mess up one, you lost your chance for a A. He should grade in a straight scale, but since a lot of people does well, he curves down.

Mesghali is pretty cool, and funny at times. He might be a little hard to understand, but the class was much better than what I thought it would be like. I'd take him again if I could. The only really bad thing about him is that whenever you do bad on a quiz, he kinda gets mad at you for not knowing the concepts well enough. Other than that, he's really helpful as he usually likes to help students with their circuits in case problems arise.
