This class was surprisingly fine. The reports aren't nearly as bad as the physics labs, and Mesghali was a really nice guy. I went PNP because I never studied and did horribly on the quizzes, but other than those the class wasn't bad at all.
Disclaimer: I took this class online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mesghali is a great professor - he really cares about his students. The labs can be tedious, but because they were online, I'd recommend them - they are shortened and simplified because of this. The lab reports were fairly easy to write, and you just follow what's asked of you in the manual, and should get a 100% on them. The pre-labs and the quizzes were definitely the harder parts of the class. For quizzes, make sure you study his lecture slides, and statements that he emphasizes during lecture are good indicators that you should know them for the quiz. For the pre-labs and for anything else I was confused on, go to office hours - I was pretty much the only one there, so I was able to ask all of my questions and get them answered!
Good prof for 110L.
If you get AJ as your TA (will be listed as JOSHI, A.C.) you're in luck. He does all the grading and is really generous. Most people get 95+ on every lab. He also helps a lot if youre running into problems for your lab.
He lectures a bit in the beginning of each lab then lets you do the lab. His lectures lay out exactly what you need to do each lab and probably wehat you need to know for the quizzes. People ended up just taking pictures of the whiteboard with their phones.
There are quizzes throughout the quarter which he will tell you the dates of. First one is a joke. For the other two just make sure you review (20 minutes should do it..) the labs that the quiz covered. Concepts, calculations, etc.
Prof is very generous for course grades.
Best EE 110L professor there is. His lectures before the lab are very helpful and quizzes are pretty straightforward. Don't let the first quiz throw you off though. It was ridiculously easy, while the second one was much longer and somewhat harder. Just study his lectures before the lab and you'll do fine on the quizzes. And if you have a great TA like Abhijeet, you'll do well on the lab reports too.
