if there are negative gradings I will do that, and haiyu will probably comment "You should have said 'if these existed negative grading', 5 points off"
P.S.:
I wont curse haiyu cause there exist only a finite number of bad words, which is NOT enough to express my hatred against him
also for the one and only one comment that refers to us as the ones being unfair, look at the number of dislikes it receives
I am aware that the math department is assigning this horrible, ill-minded, morally corrupted individual as the teaching assistant for math 131BH in spring 2021. It is without any tolerance of us, who have suffered more than enough from him, that this devil will be destroying the lives of another 40 students.
I am writing to express my grave and my deep concern about the department decisions on assigning Haiyu Huang as a TA for the math 131 honors series. Other people's comments here are more than enough to demonstrate the inability of Haiyu Huang to be a TA. He does not know how to be a TA, and he does not even know how to be a person who is at the very least not aggressive and/or not arrogant.
Please, I beg anyone who are in charge of TA assignments that NEVER assign any TA position, at least not any TA position in the 131 honors series, to this terrible person. He cannot and does not deserve the name of a teacher.

Haiyu was our TA for 131BH for Spring 2021. I was really worried going into the quarter because of all the Bruinwalk reviews, but fortunately, he wasn't bad at all! In both discussion/office hours, Haiyu was really kind and helpful. Although discussions could be a bit fast-paced, he would always be patient answering questions, and never had a problem repeating himself. He could be a bit blunt sometimes (although not really tbh), but he was never rude to a student. His grading was really lenient, even moreso than other honors classes I've taken IMO. Of course, 131BH is a different class than 131AH, with different content and expectations, but at least from my experience, Haiyu was a great TA!
I really liked this class but Haiyu ruined it for me. For the person saying ThIs iS hOnOrS it wasn’t so much about the grading, but more about how he treated his students. An honors class TA is not any more entitled to make condescending patronizing comments to students than a regular class TA. Not everyone is mathematically gifted, but that doesn’t mean the TA should be chuckling at their questions like it’s the dumbest thing he has ever heard or telling them “it’s obvious” or insulting them over email when they ask him a question without helping the student mathematically. This man should not be in a teaching position, it’s not a good look for the math department.
I feel like the other reviews are unfair and inappropriate. The professor and TA leniently curved the class and the work load was what you could expect from an honor's class. All the homework could be finished within a day and the professor would consistently push back the deadline a couple days so you would get >1 week to finish the homework. Haiyu's grading was like any other honors TA, he would mark down points according to how integral the mistake is to a problem. I think the other reviews are unfair, this class is similar to other upper div honors courses I have taken. I feel like 131AH emphasizes rigorous proofs more than other math classes, and people should expect to have points marked down on their homework. The professor adds a generous curve to allow you to make mistakes. Overall, I enjoyed this class.
The old reviews are very very inaccurate. Haiyu is super awesome. He got the professor to reduce this insane amount of homework we were given on midterm week on material we hadn't covered yet, went over all the problems and answered everyone's questions without being rude in the slightest and was very accommodating of people when they needed extra help in his office.
Very very solid TA.
I was an undergraduate at UCSD, where Haiyu did his undergrad. He TA'ed our honors analysis class the 2018-2019 school year as an undergraduate TA. Like the below comments say, he was arrogant and unhelpful even back then, and certainly did not present a welcoming attitude to his students.
