If you want to take Korean 100A, I recommend Professor Yoon! For reference, I took her class completely online this quarter. I got placed into this class through the placement exam so I definitely felt like I wasn't prepared, but the professor made it easier to learn. I do recommend brushing up on some of your skills beforehand though if you're not confident. She asks about the pace so that everyone can learn effectively; she'll check in every once in a while to ask if she's going too fast or too slow, so if you're having trouble, you can definitely let her know. A lot of her lectures revolve around the textbook, so I recommend getting it, but she also screen-shared her digital textbook for those who didn't have it. We had about 4 homework assignments, not too difficult but will be mostly in Korean, so make sure you touch up on reading comprehension and writing. There was one midterm and a final; I personally had a little difficulty with them because I wasn't as prepared with writing, but if you pay attention to lecture and practice, you should be fine. Since we were online, our exams were open book; I don't think it will be open book for when it becomes in person. We also had one presentation. The topics were fairly easy and broad, so you had a lot of freedom with what you wanted to talk about, but it had to be entirely in Korean as she was grading on preparedness and oral speaking since the exams didn't have a speaking portion. But you were allowed a script as long as you didn't rely on them entirely. I believe you get graded on participation, but I didn't participate too much, but participation was another form of practice. Be prepared to be called on. She did use breakout rooms a lot so you'll end up talking to a lot of the other classmates to answer the little questions she asks. Overall, the class wasn't that hard because the professor is really willing to help out if you have trouble, so if you're struggling, make sure you ask questions or visit office hours!! She's really sweet and funny, very chill.

This class isn't that hard but I would definitely practice before coming in if you are not fully confident in your skills. I personally felt behind a lot of the other students. I didn't have to much trouble and was able to get a good grade but that was the one thing that bothered me personally. The teacher is really good and funny. You will learn a lot!
