Great professor, though lectures could be a bit boring. Minimal work is required outside of class (just a few online quizzes on CCLE, and you only need to get a 50% to get full credit). Exams are fairly straightforward and Professor Wong is very generous with extra credit (go to class!), which is very useful in his straight-scale grading scheme. You do need to put in the effort to memorize the material to do well, though.

His midterms are much harder than you think you definitley need to study for them. Lectures are not that intersting but paying attention is much better than being totally underprepared for the tests.

Jared Wong is hilarious and he's very competent, diligent, and punctual with uploading notes, starting lectures, etc.

The class grade is composed of 42.5% midterm, 42.5% final, and 15% study questions.
He gives out extra credit up to 2%.

DONT BUY THE TEXTBOOK. ITS A SCAM.

I got a C- but that's because I was too pre-occupied with my boyfriend who goes to Santa Barbara.

Great professor for 116. This class is naturally a lot of work and the concepts can require a lot of memorization, but he communicates everything very clearly and effectively. The class is split into three modules: neuroanatomy, Swimmy (neuronal circuits), and visual neuroscience. Neuroanatomy was definitely the hardest and required solid understanding and identification of every brain structure. The other two modules are pretty easy and are graded on lab write-ups. Overall, highly recommend taking 116 with Wong.

I'm so glad that I was able to take this class with Professor Wong. He's sooo nice and funny! He gives out extra credit too, which is really nice of him. There was one midterm and one final with 10 multiple choice questions that were due online each week. Overall, workload was not heavy at all. The 10 multiple choice questions took at most 30min to complete in one sitting. Midterm and final both had 50 questions. I didn't buy the textbook in the class and I was fine. I took notes for the first few weeks, but then stopped because you just memorize his lecture slides. I didn't go to class a few times, too and I was fine. It is a lot of memorization and his slides for each ppt are sometimes 50 slides long, so if you are good at memorizing a lot of information then this is a good GE class to take! Oh also the review session for the midterm and final that were held by our TA weren't helpful at all. I went to the review for the midterm but left early and didn't bother going to the final review.

This class was so easy. Barely ever went to lecture because he just reads off the slides. The weekly quizzes you can use your notes for since its online but I never had to because they were super simple. The midterm and final are 50 multiple choice questions and took me about 20 minutes.

This class was really great. I would definitely recommend this as your life science GE. The professor always had jokes and his classes were super lively. The topics were super engaging. The workload was pretty light. There was just one midterm and a non-cumulative exam, both multiple-choice. There were ten sets of "study questions". I saw them as homework, but our professor didn't like to call it that. You get full credit for getting 50% and above. He was always down for extra credit (super fun and easy). For an extra credit point he made us watch a scene from the Big Bang Theory (my favorite show!) and answer a couple of questions.

Not much work but tests were impossible. Do not take this class thinking it is going to be an easy GE...because it's not. There is a midterm and final, both worth 42.5% and homework (super easy) worth 15% and extra credit. Still though, don't take the class unless you want to be stressed about a GE.

Super easy, fun class. There was one midterm and one final, both were multiple choice. Professor Wong is a great lecturer and posts the slides on CCLE, so even if I had to miss class I never felt like I was falling behind. One tip I would say is to skim the textbook before you go to class, and read over the notes you take in class once a week. I did that, and I only studied for maybe one or two hours for the midterm and final and came out with a decent grade. He does offer extra credit, which is really nice, but you have to come to class to get it. The material was really interesting in my opinion.
