Course taken: LS4 not a horrible professor. The class itself was really fun and interesting, but only for the material. Doing LOTS of practice problems is the best way to prepare, lecture wasn't really that helpful at all, but it was nice that she posted slides up a few days before each lecture. I learned more from my TA then from her. Her tests were fairly straight forward, although she is slightly delusional in that she believes a 58 average is not indicative of a hard exam, but that nobody studied... I managed to pull off an A, but not with any help from Chen. There are probably better professors to take, but she isn't a horrible (or even bad) professor

Well I liked her until the lecture after the second midterm (LS4). She calls her students lazy when the average is low and went as far as to say that her 2008 exam was harder yet the average was 26 points higher. Chen and her TA's are extremely defensive and they are wrong all the time. I hated this class and if I didn't get an A, I would hate it even more.

this review is for LS 4 Chen is a decent professor. She knows her stuff but sometimes has a hard time explaining it. Do a lot of practice problems. even with a very good professor, practice is the only way to master genetics, and she is very clear about this. She is also pretty helpful. I emailed her with questions and she was able to help me over email. It is hard to obtain help over email, but she helped me greatly with degrees of freedom today. I would recommend her.
