Pretty good professor. Only reason I got an A- was because I didn't study for the final. Gives out good lectures and explains all the topics very well. Would highly recommend.

Jens Eberhardt is a wonderful prof and I loved going to his lectures. He is very entertaining and funny. At the end of the last lecture, everyone cheered so loudly; it’s very obvious that most of us loved him as a teacher.
Midterms and final are extremely easy. The only “tricky” part are the multiple choice questions that are very theoretical, but really doable. This class is an easy A if you know a little about calc and he’s so friendly and funny that it is totally worth it! I would choose Eberhardt any day if I could :)

For Math 115AH:
As my first proof based and upper division math course, this class was a real challenge and as it was Honors it moves through material so much more quickly (though I have no doubt the 131H/110H series are much more difficult), so I really had to dedicate a lot of my time to this class. In addition to the Math 115A curriculum, the class also went into much detail on dual spaces, invariant subspaces, and orthogonal projections, and touched upon unitary/orthogonal operators and the Spectral Theorem, which all serve as part of the Math 115B curriculum.

That being said, the increased level of abstraction attained by this class's material, was incredibly interesting and definitely worth my time, and Prof. Eberhardt is undoubtedly one of the best math professors at UCLA for linear algebra. He is a very nice and approachable guy who is always happy to help, no matter how dumb you think your questions may be lol. His lectures are very neat and well structured, and an extra hour is also offered for the class, that serves as a Q&A session where he won't cover anything new, and just answer any questions you may have.

For the exams, the midterms were incredibly difficult to finish within the time allotted (50 mins for 4 medium-length proofs and 40 mins for 3 medium-length proofs), but the final was much more chill (3 hours for 3 longer proofs). Medians were like 60, 75, and 78 I believe, and the two grading schemes (homework is not a part of grade) are 22.5-22.5-55 and 35-65, allowing for you to bomb one of the midterms, the way I did lol.

Very much recommended.

I really liked Eberhardt and thought he was engaging in class and really good at explaining what we were learning. If you put in the work the material is understandable and easy to work through.

Eberhardt is a lot younger looking than you would expect from an average professor, so don't be shocked when you see a "student" going up to the front of the class to teach! Overall, he is a great professor. Jens is smart and lectures in a manner that builds understanding in his students. He has an accent that is a little hard to understand at first, but you'll get it after a couple of lectures. Eberhardt's office hours were helpful but were always super packed. His tests were reasonable and were multiple choice math concepts/rules and actual hand-written computations.

Very nice guy with multiple choice tests which were easy. Topics were pretty daunting for a first-quarter student, but he made them manageable and was helpful if you went to see him. Honestly I didn't know how to study for this class since I'm bad at math, but his notes during class were decent and the practice midterms/final closely resemble what you'll see. He's a great guy so if you have the chance take it with Jens. Maybe you'll hear him speak German or draw his hands on the board.

Mostly agree with the comment below. I absolutely loved his German accent ("Zigma"). Homework is very easy, midterms are easy, final is harder. In the finals, I think he dropped a big pile of final papers and he accidentally said "f**k," and the entire class immediately burst into laughter.

I really liked Professor Eberhardt! He was super funny, easy to talk to, and made his lectures engaging. However, if you have the option to not take the 31 series, I wouldn't. I think every professor for 31A is going to be difficult, and I wouldn't waste your time on this since it is basically just calculus from high school. I would say that the homework was pretty easy since it was just the same problems we went over in lecture/discussion but with different numbers. The thing that really made me want to drop this class were the midterms. I bombed both of them because they were so much harder than what we did in class. It was nice that he allowed us to use a cheat sheet, however, it didn't help me much since I actually had zero clue what was going on during the exams. If you need to take this class, I really liked Eberhardt but maybe find a professor you know is a lot easier.
