The class is straightforward and manageable. The labs take 1.5 or 2 hours usually. The lab reports are easy to score well on but can take some time to complete. The midterm was pretty easy and only worth 11%. I thought the final was difficult (32% of the grade) but everything else about the class was easy. He said 35% of the class received As (I don't think he gave +/- so a 90 was an A) which is reallly generous.

I liked Professor Pang alot! I had read mixed reviews about him before taking the class, but I'm not sure why he has so many negative ones-- I thought he was great!

Pang connects with the class really well during his lectures. He always makes good connections that make the concepts easier to understand, and he has preprinted powerpoint notes that you get during each lecture. He talks REALLY fast though, and does have an accent, but it's not too hard to understand. However, you have to pay attention in class, because he does go over concepts quickly. Pang loves to make chemistry fun though, and also has a lot of school pride. He makes jokes during class and handed out glowsticks one time. During the last class of the quarter, he asked questions on the board and had students come up and solve them, and gave a $10 Subway giftcard to each one that did! He's awesome.

Pang makes really great study guides for his tests. Each study guide will have the concepts you will need to know for the test, and if you study it well, you should be pretty prepared. His midterm wasn't as bad as I expected it to be, and most people did quite well on it. His final, however, was awful. It was super theoretical and weird and not very straightforward at ALL. Everyone who took it agreed that it was way out of the ballpark.

This class is on a straight scale, or so Pang says. I'm really hoping that he ends up curving it at the very end, because otherwise we're all screwed from that final.
