I just want to emphasize how incredibly accommodating Dr. Pang was during all of the crazy events that happened during Spring 2020. He and his TAs modified Chem 14CL and developed amazing online materials to make it an appropriate online class. This class was definitely not hard but I feel like I learned a lot, which I'm happy about!

Incredibly accommodating professor who genuinely cares about student success. The most time consuming things were the post and pre labs, but labs were all pre-recorded and posted (about 2-15 min).

Pang is the best. I really enjoyed this class, mainly because the professor is so caring and helpful to the students. He had office hours everyday which helped immensely and was always willing to answer whatever question no matter how stupid. Chem14Cl is notoriously a hard class but taking it with this professor made it one of my favorite classes since I felt like the work I put in directly correlated to how I did in the class and the professor and TAs I interacted with were all kind and helpful. I appreciated how he always came to check on how the labs were going during lab periods too. Also the study guides are very helpful and I really appreciate the detail put into them. If only every professor was like you Pang, I'm gonna miss you <3 Also thanks for the candy on halloween and during office hours :)

Dr. Pang was one of the clearest and most helpful professors I've ever had, especially in the Chem 14 series. Although the workload and number of hours is quite heavy per week, if you do the pre-lab assignments on time (before lab) and read through the procedure thoroughly, you should be able to finish each lab period at least an hour early. Pang provides plenty of review material before each midterm and the final with a very thorough review study guide and plenty of practice problems on lab assignments. Use the Free & For Sale page to purchase a lab manual, lab coat, and goggles! Also he gave out glowsticks after his last lecture to some of his classes

Pang is one of the best, kindest and most understanding STEM professors at UCLA. He's such a nice man, makes the class really nice as well. The class itself wasn't bad at all especially since it was all online.

Dr. Pang is amazing!! Lectures were asynchronous and posted beforehand, and his slides were very clear and detailed. Lab reports were also straightforward. Enrollment had two labs per week but one was just for OHs with your TA to ensure you could make it (which was very nice of him, i appreciate that), and the other was a 1-1.5 hour of regurgitated material presented by your TA instead of the prof (attendance mandatory, but that's literally ur only physical requirement of the week). Dr. Pang also makes weekly worksheets (not graded) specific to the week's topic so that we could have enough practice problems to prepare us for the exams, which were also super straightforward. he even sends weekly email reminders about deadlines so that we don't miss any! as long as you put in some effort, this class is super easy 10/10 would take Dr. Pang again.

Being that this is a lab class during the pandemic, this review may not be super helpful for people taking it in person. Lectures were posted weekly as recording of him speaking over slides, and while they were not the worst, they are not the most engaging. Take good notes and download his slides for later use. There were weekly homework assignments and lab reports, along with one writing assignment and a midterm and final. I think all assignments were fair in length and I recommend just knowing what is due each week. Discussion to only one lab was mandatory, and the other was treated as office hours. Dr. Pang also held office hours, and I heard that they were helpful. Overall, this class was not too difficult online, but the tests would definitely be more challenging in person.

Pang was the GOAT. Literally one of the most understanding professors in the chem department, as he understands students have other commitments and adjusts his class as needed to ensure you can get a good grade.

You might be overwhelmed at first to see the class schedule, but it's just 2 assignments due every week: one homework due on Tuesdays, and one VLR (Virtual Lab Report) due on Fridays. There is one writing assignment, but it's super easy.

Even when online, the class was interesting and applicable to real-life situations. The last assignment was about forensic science, which was pretty cool.

Take Chem14CL with Pang !!!

TAKE 14CL WITH PANG. From what I've heard from other 14CL professors, Pang is definitely the best one to take it with. I never spent more than 5 hours a week going over all of the lecture materials, finishing the weekly homework, and finishing the weekly lab assignments, but I still felt like I learned a lot from his class! He's a clear and concise lecturer, and very helpful overall. Exams weren't bad as long as you studied a bit. There is one writing assignment but it's very short (<800 words I think) and he provides an opportunity for extra credit!

This class has a lot of busy work every week (homework set + lab report), one writing assignment in like week 2 or 3, but lectures are pretty short and the homework/exams are very very straightforward.

I took this class with three other high-workload STEM classes and it was totally fine so not much to worry about workload-wise.

Super easy and Pang is great :))
