Selling used Movie-made America textbook. Reach me at cadi416@gmail.com This class was a really fun experience. if you love good films then I definitely recommend this class. Manageable workload. Before each test he gives a study guide of some of the main topics and with just using that and the stuff he covers in lecture you will be fine. The textbook was useful when studying for tests and the essays.
This was one of my favorite classes. Kuntz is the cutest man ever and has been teaching forever and still gets so excited talking about the films/film industry. Also if you can, sign up for Carolin's discussion section. She is the sweetest women, so incredibly helpful and an understanding grader. TAKE THIS CLASS PEOPLE.

This class was awesome. Although it was long, Professor Kuntz made it very engaging and interesting. I knew I was interested in film prior to taking this class, but after watching classic films like The Godfather, Psycho, Singin' In the Rain, Casablanca, and more, I decided to minor in film. Definitely would recommend this class if you have the slightest interest in film!
One of the most kind hearted professors I've encountered. The lectures were long but very intersting, especially if you are a film buff. I would recommend this class if you want to learn all about Hollywood's orgins, in addition to watching some pretty awesome films! You get two essays, topic of your choice and two tests (midterm & final) they consist of definitions and one essay portion. Its not difficult if you attend lecture and take decent notes. The book wasn't useful, honestly the lectures were chalk full of info. I highly recommend you take this class, if I could I would take it again :)
This class was definitely interesting but the four hour lecture was a lot and I often fell asleep or left before the movies started. It was harder than I thought it would be and required a lot of writing and pretty deep comprehension of the material and movies. Your grade depends on your TA and my TA was a really harsh grader which was a bummer but he didn't give quizzes on the movies which was nice.
I absolutely loved this class and Professor Kuntz. This class was the one that made me want to become a film minor because Kuntz is so passionate about his work. He is like a walking encyclopedia and keeps the material (even the dull stuff like black and white and silent films) interesting. The lectures can be painfully long, but by the end of the quarter, half of the lecture is just watching a really captivating film like The Godfather or Casa Blanca. I would not say this class is a super easy A as some would assume from a film class, but if you put in the effort ( go to class pretty regularly, study a bit for the tests and really try on papers) you will definitely do well.
This class is wayyy to much work, do not take it if you're looking for an easy GE. 9 hours of class every single week + two 6-8 page papers + written midterm + final. Lectures are so overboard but his slides are essentially just pictures so you have to attend and sit through his drawn out lectures twice a week. If you live and die for film then cool but if not, do not take this class.
Dr. Kuntz is the most adorable human ever. Such a good professor. All of his lectures were clear and engaging. He's funny and SO so passionate it just makes the class that much better. The content is not hard. If you pay attention during lecture you will be totally fine. What can get you are the 2 research papers. If your TA is a harsh grader these can hurt you the way they hurt my grade. The grade is divided up: 20% Participation, 20% 1 research paper, 20% 2 research paper, 20% midterm, 20% final.
The one tough thing about this class is the time. The class is 4 hours long twice a week. Try not to cuddle up with your sweatshirt, you're bound to fall asleep (I know I did a few times). Every class you watch a film. It is so cool to see classic films in a really amazing theater.
TAKE THIS CLASS. It's fun and simple, you will not regret it.
