Professor Martinez is a great teacher and my favorite so far in college! He is professional, caring, patient and always responds fast on slack, which we used for the course. The lecture content is very useful and interesting to consider thoroughly and talk about. He also pays attention to the interaction among students which is great and helped a lot with both the class the our college social network. He is also very friendly and would like to hear everyone’s idea no matter whether they are right or not. He really inspires and encourages us a lot! Although you may find the lecture a little boring at the beginning, I bet you will love it later when you start to look seriously at all the issue discussed and think about them!
The class was online, so my interactions with the professor were minimal. The way the class worked was he would post multiple 8-10 min lecture videos for each week, and at the end of each video he would say "now go answer question __ on the lesson log!" which directly pertained to the short lecture video. It made the lecture and the homework very interactive, but also meant you had to watch and do the assignment every week. The material was interesting and applicable, and the professor was really nice and helpful in office hours. Everything is graded by TA and discussion was mandatory attendance and participation. There were group assignments that had to be completed as well but they were pretty easy. Your TA matters more for this class but the Professor Matinez-Fernandez was really cool and nice and I would for sure take another class with him in the future. If you take this class, go to his office hours at least once, he is super fun to even just chat with.
This was class was extremely useful and easy. I took it during COVID so it was online. We had weekly recorded lectures with an assignment due (which was time consuming) along with a weekly discussion section and assignment. The class was a fair amount of work but it was not hard work. The professor and the TA's are great and helpful. I would recommend!
