Fall 2021 - Honestly, you can't ask more from Professor/Lecturer Lisovsky. Your final grade is based on 4 projects (3 essays, 1 video or 4 essays) and they aren't graded harshly at all + some hw on readings (1hr each). Even if you aren't happy with your grade, he gives you chances to REVISE/REDO essays and that will bump the grade up by 5-10% easily. PS: You can literally be 15 minutes late to his class and he will still welcome you to the class, no questions asked. ONE WORD: CHILL. TAKE HIS CLASS!

I had him for comp 2 and i had to tai whim again for comp 3. HE is an amazing professor. He is funny, lively, and is very concerned about his students. Your grade will depend on the amount of time and work you put into your papers. He give a lot of work but he will make sure you writing improves by the end of the quarter. I learned more with him in one quarter than I did in 4 years of Honors and AP classes in high school. I got a B+ which is not bad. Go to his office hours and he will help ALOT!

Spring 2016 - Professor Lisovsky is super considerate of the need of his students and is willing to grant extensions and adjust the workload for some circumstances. His class is mostly grammar so if you're a native english speaker it all might be super redundant, which gets somewhat boring but is also a huge plus when it comes to studying because it's a lot of common sense. The class is composed of 3 papers (around 10-11 pages total) and a midterm + final, plus some readings and reading questions that he collects every two to three weeks. You get study guides for both the midterm and the final in the form of weekly quizzes that you get to solve with a team he predetermines. Definitely an easy A if you go to office hours and seem interested during class. I missed a few lectures and still managed to get an A, so it's not impossible. I would definitely take another class with him. Try to find the course reader used if you don't mind other people's highlighting. He says he changes it every quarter but the differences are minimal and you might be able to get away with looking at your table mates' reading assignments if he does make big changes. He'll post most readings online on CCLE anyways.

Professor Lisovsky is NOT concerned with student learning. His class is easy enough, but make sure you go to class because he bases SO MUCH of your grade on whether or not you're there. He doesn't really care whether or not you learned anything (even if you really did); it's basically a blow to his ego if you don't go to lecture. He imposes his knowledge on his students in a superior way and acts like he is an incredibly smart man, which he is not. He drones on about grammar, even though most of it is stuff we have learned when we were younger. Sometimes, it felt like we were in an elementary/middle school classroom instead of a college environment. In the beginning he may seem nice enough but he is definitely very arrogant. Lisovsky is probably the worst professor I've had at UCLA.
