Professor
Kristin Walker
Most Helpful Review
Spring 2016 - Professor Walker is by far one of the best professors I have encountered at UCLA. She is well prepared and very willing to clarify any material. She often will answer students questions after class which was nice. The slides follow along with the book very well, but they aren't exact replicas. Her slides contain additional information that is fair game for the exams. Overall, she is a very entertaining and polished professor. I would recommend Walker 100%. There was one midterm and one final, which was not cumulative. The material covered by Walker was everything after the midterm (she was the professor for the first half of the quarter). The final was multiple choice and counts towards 45% of your entire grade, however it was fairly easy. As long as you stay on track with the lectures and study the material on your own time, it's more than passable. It is a lot of material, so you can't afford to get behind or cram everything in the night before the final. The grading scheme for Decker and Walker's psych 10 class was: Midterm 45%, Final 45%, and Essay 10%. You have the entire quarter to do the essay. Also there is a mandatory research requirement that is not graded, but you won't be given credit for the class without it. It's six hours of research, or an equivalent of three summaries of peer reviewed articles. Again, you have all quarter to complete this.
