This class, although very boring, was definitely one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. The workload was extremely light and the labs were pretty easy and could be completed within an hour. The lectures seemed like they would take forever, but the slides were pretty useful and helped for studying for the mid-term and final. Overall, it is a really easy GE and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs a class with lab credit.
This class was not one that I looked forward to, as the lectures were very long and often boring. That being said, it was very easy. For Fall 2021, the class was online with an in-person lab. Our midterm and final were online, multiple choice. You have one weekly assignment to write a MAXIMUM 5 sentence summary on a video/article of your choice out of the ones that he provides, and I kid you not the majority were 5 minute YouTube videos, so the homework took me like 15 minutes a week. There were labs every week, but as long as you follow the instructions on the lab doc, they were pretty much self-explanatory. If you need the physical lab GE, definitely recommend this class. Also, he gave us 3% extra credit If we filed out the course evals.
The class is something you can self-study with the help of his slides and the internet. His lectures are incredibly boring as he just reads off from the slides, but the labs were quite interesting and easy. Workload is pretty light- one lab and one short report every week- but it may become overwhelming when paired with 2 lectures to catch up on weekly. The midterm quiz was extremely easy but the final was kind of hard lol; I ended up getting the same grade for both of them though. Overall, this class is not something I would recommend if there are other options available but take this if you need a GPA booster or if you genuinely like the science behind earthquakes.
Very easy G.E. The labs are incredibly easy and the midterm is straightforward. Don't need to go to lectures at all because Meng is a very confusing lecturer and boring. Just study the slides a few days before the test and you should be fine. The final was very tricky compared to the midterm. I would definitely recommend this class as it is one of the most under the radar easy G.E.
Professor Meng is the GOAT. Yea the class lectures were boring at times, but the content of the lecture is cool, and he posts lectures all online also. Midterm was easy, Final was a bit more difficult. Labs are easy also.
I would have loved this class, BUT Professor Meng is superrrr boring. It's not an exaggeration. His classes are an absolute DRAG. I always ended up teaching myself what he said in class, because I drifted off al lot. Other than that, this class was pretty cool. The field trip was fun, and Professor Meng has JOKES. I really don't know how someone so funny can give such boring lectures. The labs were super easy. I found the midterm and final really hard but that's probably my fault, for not paying attention.
