Quarter: Winter 2022
Grade: A
April 1, 2022

I loved this class!! I am a psychology major and this was my first time taking a sociology class other than intro, it was a tough one for sure, but so worth it. Professor Jepson is so knowledgeable and his lectures are always so interesting. It is a little heavy for an eight a.m. class, but nonetheless, I recommend going to lecture even though he posts recordings because staring at a black screen without a transcript makes getting through the lecture records really hard. This class consists of an in-person written midterm and final, and five journal entries. The tests are kind of tough and it definitely requires you to be well versed in the lecture and discussion material, but as long as you keep up during the quarter you should be fine. He also curves final class grades which were super helpful! He is also super easy to reach any time we emailed him with questions and concerns he responded so quickly and with such thorough responses. Overall, Professor Jepson is the best introduction you can have to the real world. He won't take it easy on you and I promise his standards for his students are purposeful.

Jepson is extremely passionate about the material which makes the class very interesting. He posts a lecture outline before each class and his lecture clarifies and defines everything on the outline. He truly cares about his students, I totally recommend taking his class!

I really liked how he put up an outline on the website before each lecture for students to follow what his actual lecture. He made connections to relatable topics about the readings.

If only his lectures weren't at 8 in the morning I would have enjoyed his class more.

Professor Jepson is one of the best Sociology professor's I've had at UCLA so far. He presents his lecture in a well structured manner that allows for his students to easily follow. He also provides an outline for each lecture so that we are able to stay on topic and understand what will be discussed that day. I highly recommend taking a class with Jepson!
